  1. FWIW, WUnderground for Ross Twp started the day at 4", now shows 10".
  2. WTAE picked up on it this morning with only a vague “could be potentially looking at a significant snowfall event, but still too early to tell and you will hear it here first” tagline. Wunderground showed 4” last night, 6” this morning for the same time period.
  3. Our family heard it in Ross Twp. It was loud enough to rattle the windows here. Sounded like one loud thundercrack, but given people have said they heard it from Moon to Oakmont to Greensburg to Bethel, it looks like something higher up in the atmosphere is more likely than something on the ground. In other news - Thursday seems to be flirting up and down on WUnderground with totals. Temps look right, at least.
  4. Interestingly, even though NWS called for no freezing precipitation here, I woke to a light glaze of ice on everything.
  5. Looks like potentially a very very slim chance of a dusting in Christmas evening?
  6. Last night was much prettier than this morning with the warming.
  7. It was a cold morning to go get a tree. The ambiance was right though. Wind whipping with flurries in the air. Got a little more oomph around lunchtime, but nothing staying on the grass long.
  8. Nary a flurry here. Looks to be the same on Turkey day.
  9. I think the laurels will get a nice measurable snow, but too warm here west at this point.
  10. Figures we were over the average the last few weeks when it was supposed to be in the 60's and nice autumn weather and now we're going straight to 50's. Ah well, can't have a winner fall like last year every year.
  11. Agreed, leaf peeping is to be done in jeans and a light jacket, not shorts and flip flops.
  12. Yesterday was grand, this week looks fantastic to give the HVAC a break. Hopefully the trend continues. Any thoughts on leaves this year? My normally vibrant maples in the back seem to be wilting and dropping with barely a hint of color. We could have just been spoiled last year.
  13. 9 times out of 10, I’d agree with you. But if you get a stretch of mid 70’s, lots of sun on the house, then a 80 day, that could quite easily translate to a sweaty afternoon inside. At least the next few days will be a good temp. I was spoiled late last week with low 70’s/high 60’s in the mountains as the high with a nice breeze and now I. Want. More.
  14. Late last week, it didnt look like we'd need the AC this week, but that ugly "8" popped back up at the beginning of the temperature for today and over the upcoming weekend. Sigh. Maybe soon.
  15. Over the last 2 days, according to my ambient weather station here in Ross, we got 3.60". My station in southern Somerset Co got 5.11". The local amish rang and stated we have "some cleaning up to do" from the creek that runs through the property.
  16. Hard to remember a night like last night. Storms seemed to keep forming over and over just west of the city. Like a previous poster, it was great to just grab a beer and sit on the porch after sundown. Looks like another stormy evening on tap.
