  1. Kudos to WFMY 2 in the Triad. They’ve said all along that all they know is there’s a lot of moisture and it will be cold. And that’s it. And that will end up being correct most likely. Anyone who was saying anything else definitely got out over their skies on this one
  2. Sigh. Any chance we can avoid the freezing rain and just get rain or no? I feel like in Winston the CAD is locked in and just going to get buried in the worst possible winter weather
  3. The GFS caved let’s face it, although Euro not great at CAD so there’s the matter of what type of frozen precipitation is going to fall. But the GFS sucks compared to the Euro, we knew it would cave, and it did lol
  4. I’m praying Winston Salem gets spared the ZR. The QPF has been consistently 1.5+. The trends are heading that way though. Best I can hope for is IP
  5. Not a single cliff diving post yet for that GFS run. That’s all the evidence I need that at least it didn’t get worse because you know there are some people that had their draft ready to go
  6. That didn’t look north to me that actually looked south a tad. I see people saying north, but I could be wrong. I’m an amateur lol
  7. Snowmen are pretty much an extinct creature in North Carolina. Sledding on the other hand very much on the table. Pulling for sleet hard right now. Precipitation that’s available remains large and we absolutely cannot afford to have that be mostly freezing rain
  8. I was 4. I don’t remember any of it, but I’d like to imagine I took full advantage! Let’s see if we get a chance to re-live it 40 years later
  9. You’ve been around through a lot of disappointment. A lot. That’s what this area produces most of the time. You’ll be back. And I’m grateful for that.
  10. I’ve pretty much given up on getting major snow in the Triad, need the Canadian to go even further the north to miss the ice. The kids are gonna love the sledding. It’s going to be epic. But man, the power people, etc. Looks like it could be rough. For a lot of our state
  11. The European is the king for a reason. The other models always eventually cave to it. And when it starts correcting as game time approaches if you’re on the opposite side it’s usually no bueno
  12. I’ve also been lurking for a long time, more of a model geek than Weather aficionado but just wanna shout you guys out I know it’s disappointing to lose the snow, but I always feel like I know what’s happening well before the public. They’re still thinking big snowstorm when I know ice is much more likely. Even before the TV and social media people catch on. I appreciate these discussions. I learn and I’m always super informed.
  13. If this holds this is going to be a huge hit to the weather industry in terms of the social media group. Local Mets have been banging the drum against them for a while. This might be if not the death blow a big shot to the attention they get
  14. True. Although in recent years, I would argue it’s like rooting for the Carolina Panthers. But, they DID get better this year!
  15. That is a LOT of ice. It’s been clear for a couple of days we were gonna get our first big winter storm in a while. It is starting to look like a major ice storm. A bummer and on top of that dangerous. So much precipitation, it’s going to be frozen precipitation. I’d rather rain than ice, but I don’t think that’s a possibility. Oh boy lol
  16. The Euro is not the model you want to hope is wrong. No model is perfect including that one. But that’s not the one I would want to be rooting against.
  17. Ridiculous run for sure. But some fun fiction.
  18. The GFS is absurd here!! Four days out is wild
  19. I mean there’s so much moisture here. This is going to be epic. Snow or ice. Snow and ice. Ice. Either way, all the overused hyperbolic adjectives like “historic” might apply here
  20. I have to admit the abyss part made me laugh. But it is certainly very possible to be fair. Several possibilities remain on the table. But I’ll stick around to find out
  21. Sitting in Winston-Salem feels like a good spot. Obviously gonna be some ice in there, but should get a decent front end snow. It’s been a while. It’s going to be fun.
  22. This thing clearly has plenty of quantitative precipitation to work with that is for sure. Definitely gonna be a mess, but this is going to be a big event.
  23. Pretty weird to see this much model agreement run after run. Pretty clear at this point there’s gonna be a significant winter event of some kind for North Carolina and other areas in the southeast. Been a long time since an event like this, i’m enjoying the ride(as long as it’s not freezing rain)
