Would be an interesting analysis to see which storm(s) blanketed the largest % of the 6 New England states with > X inches of snow.
Anyone smart enough to figure out how to figure that out?

Sounds like something Will would have available

Agreed. Imo, living through 78 as a soon to be 10 yr old 5 weeks afterwards, 78 had  longer lasting winds, and thus bigger drifts, and even longer lasting blizzard conditions.  But Feb 13 had even more snow than 78 here, with legit 6”+/hr rates that were absolutely mind boggling to witness.

Feb ‘13 finally lived up to the performance and ferocity of 1978 for me…and I pretty much treat/think of them as equals for my area. Until that point, nothing had lived up to 78 here. But Feb 13 finally did for me. Both incredible storms.

Yeah 78 was much longer lasting,  especially the aftermath! No school for 5 days after. One thing I'll say every time I mention that storm... the totals were WAY off in some areas.  I had measurements from our house in Granby, my grandfather from the utility company in Simsbury and others.  We had 28 inches in Granby and was told 25 in Simsbury. Official totals are far less... and I don't believe them

But it snowed all day Friday before the the real crazy shit started after dark that day…so it was a pretty long storm.  Definitely one for the record

Aside from the blizzard of 78, it was the most amazing storm I've experienced.  34 Inches in Simsbury. I still had my residential snow plow route at the time.  Took me all weekend, and hours after work Monday to clean everyone up

It's confusing following a million weenies on Twitter!

I stay away from the sewer, can't stand that kind of social media. One of the local AM talk guys was saying he's so disappointed in X and being able to use as show prep news source... great way to ruin a show if that's your source

It’s one run. And of course it’s always track dependent…no matter if it’s below zero or not, you know that.

Everyone should... but so many forget lol. That verbatim would make many happy however, lets see how many more dozen times it morphs around now

Something about that setup on all the models looks kind of wonky.

Agreed. Said that earlier that the GFS looked weird, probably due to the fact that they just don't know quite what the Eff to do with it yet  Get Torchs cutter outta here first then we'll see

6z gfs with a massive cave to euro with a stronger slower low like the Euro had on the jan 10th 00z run.. not good verbatim .. a lot to iron out on guidacne in that timeframe

6Z GFS just looks... odd to me for the 16th. No doubt the evolution will change at 12Z lol

Was hoping we’d be parsing some exciting OP’s to keep us entertained. Not so much. Instead we dive deep into pack retention analysis. Zzzzzzzzz

Just biding time through Torchs next power bottom cutter this weekend, then we hopefully have some more interesting tracking to do

I think everyone enjoys snow pack. Nobody’s saying they don’t want it. But personally, I judge winter more on the actual events. That’s where my adrenaline gets going.

Likewise. Although that's why a season like 95-96 was so great. Lots of pack for a very extended period throughout the winter, and many many events

yes, but somewhat happy no big temp drop today otherwise these wagon wheels would freeze up solid

I have to do that myself this afternoon. I never cleared Sundays second round because the damn snowblower broke,  and rains last night did little to remove it. We still have a lot left in Westfield

    March 1990, too.

I drove back from a trip to Florida during that one... on my birthday. What a present seeing as it was a great storm in the middle of a snow less time period.  Hit first snow just north of DC and was in it all the way to CT

Euro is a JAM and waffles around too. It will probably show a weak ots wave at 12z.

Agreed! If they're showing me this look on Friday I'll start to get interested, but it does seem like we're lining things up a little better after this weekend

Sexy but euro on an island.

Give it time. This is the time frame the GFS starts spitting out a different roll of the dice every run. It has certain features in this time frame, but no bomb yet

So for later today and tomorrow I have a Winter Weather Advisory, Flood Watch, High Wind Warning, Wind Chill Warning, Heat Advisory, Flash Freeze Warning, Migrating Geese Warning, and Wooly Caterpillar watch.  Does that sum things up?

In another couple weeks you'd have to add the damn sun angle talk to that mix...
