Jay is in really good shape right now..tnrw should be good too.  With the Bonnie open, if you hike that little bit on northway to jfk, you’ll find all those glades on tramside basically untouched; just make sure you have a way to get back from tramside.  Saturday sucks because they were really getting there.

Jay Is straight up awesome! Woods are pretty game on.  Thinking about tomorrow makes me sad.

Going into Phase 8 would definitely help as we go into late Dec/January....IIRC we actually had a potent phase 8 wave in January 2011 after the huge NAO blocking broke down post-Jan 12th storm. I believe the same thing happened in January 2009 after the NAO blocking broke down early in the month.

12/2010 seemed similar to me across the whole lower 48.  Not sure about the mild up next week.  But midwest snows and sierras getting crushed happened that month as well.  Im sure it's not the same overall pattern at all but it just feels similar.

I never did. I think that was a favorite spot of @GCWarrior. Looks similar to Whaleback.

I’ve actually never skied Granite Gorge.  I had a student pass there my first year getting my masters.  I never used it once at the actual hill because the lift broke.  I used several of the freedom pass days. Weird fact.  Lift hasn’t opened in several years.

Stratton planning on 12 trails with top to bottom opening on Wednesday. Boom. They have a serious snowmaking system. And their trails are wide so they get those acres open. Damn!!!

    .

I'll be there!  Looks like they may be getting some natural tomorrow and some heavy wet snow on Monday.

18z GFS has a retrograde thing next week that dumps snow on us next week after the front clears.

Please make this happen!  Not too confident looking at the the 0z and 12z vs 6z and 18z.  But maybe this trend at 18z will continue.

  6. Going to be interesting how Thanksgiving weekend shakes down.  I don't care about snow or snowmaking weather in my hood but up north it would be nice to see places open Wednesday and Thursday next week.  Monday looks not so nice for the fresh made snow. Hopefully it is a light rain.

  7. What a nice couple days.  Did a quick 4 mile ride at the Warfield house in Charlemont before dark yesterday.  Pretty glorious.  Now today is even nicer!  Much better than the typical November misery.

Here is some huge news.  Chet Homer is stepping aside as Owner of Shawnee Peak after 27 years.  Boyne Resorts has purchased Shawnee Peak and will be running the mountain moving forward.  Hopefully this will bring some more capital to make continued improvements to the mountain.

I just saw this! I wonder if they will offer 5 days on the Ikon pass this season.  I love Shawnee Peak.

My favorite thread! Now that I’ve come out of my summer hibernation it’s time to talk about sliding on snow.

Day one and two already in the books for me.  Garbage weather, limited snow and lack local knowledge(friend bailed) led me to Bagley Lakes in the North Cascades.  Did get a couple days of solid 300-400 vert turns which for a New Englander in August felt like 10k vert. Rained a lot of my two days up there so I didn’t get to see Mount Baker or much of the incredible mountains in the area but I got some great shots of Shuksan one evening.

Next year I’m thinking of lift assisted turns on mount hood may be more my style as I wade into my 40’s.  Not an option this year for me as Timberline closed 8/15. I’ll try to post some picture here

We literally have no posters in far W MA

@GCWarrioris the closest but he is barely in the E Slope.  After him I am the next furthest west.   I guess nobody lives out here.  :(

I was in the North Cascades during Henri.  I was relieved to hear it wasn’t so bad at home.

  12. Played Sunday River Golf Course yesterday.  Truly a wonderful experience.  I did not play well and it was insanely hot but I really enjoyed it. Voted tops in Maine and top 100 in the USA public course.  The views are incredible!
