Here is some huge news.  Chet Homer is stepping aside as Owner of Shawnee Peak after 27 years.  Boyne Resorts has purchased Shawnee Peak and will be running the mountain moving forward.  Hopefully this will bring some more capital to make continued improvements to the mountain.

I just saw this! I wonder if they will offer 5 days on the Ikon pass this season.  I love Shawnee Peak.

My favorite thread! Now that I’ve come out of my summer hibernation it’s time to talk about sliding on snow.

Day one and two already in the books for me.  Garbage weather, limited snow and lack local knowledge(friend bailed) led me to Bagley Lakes in the North Cascades.  Did get a couple days of solid 300-400 vert turns which for a New Englander in August felt like 10k vert. Rained a lot of my two days up there so I didn’t get to see Mount Baker or much of the incredible mountains in the area but I got some great shots of Shuksan one evening.

Next year I’m thinking of lift assisted turns on mount hood may be more my style as I wade into my 40’s.  Not an option this year for me as Timberline closed 8/15. I’ll try to post some picture here

We literally have no posters in far W MA

@GCWarrioris the closest but he is barely in the E Slope.  After him I am the next furthest west.   I guess nobody lives out here.  :(

I was in the North Cascades during Henri.  I was relieved to hear it wasn’t so bad at home.

  5. Played Sunday River Golf Course yesterday.  Truly a wonderful experience.  I did not play well and it was insanely hot but I really enjoyed it. Voted tops in Maine and top 100 in the USA public course.  The views are incredible!

  6. Walked 18 at Ellinwood in Athol, MA yesterday.  Nice old course.  Fairways aren't great but the greens are pretty nice.  Very tight challenging course with an interesting 6 par 3, 5 par 5, par 71 layout.

I was impartial to him during his prime, for some reason. Fun to watch though especially when he gets creative with his wedges. Even with his major wins, he’ll always be remembered with the choke job on 18  at Wingfoot where he took the driver instead of a fairway metal up by 2 strokes...sliced it into the tent and ended up with a double bogey, eventually losing to Geoff Ogilvy.

That was the worst probably.  He has had many tough sunday's at the US Open.

Big Phil...I was never a big fan of his...but this would be a great story if he can hold it tomorrow.

I've always liked Phil. His personality makes him intriguing.   His style of play, especially at the US Open is maddening to watch.  Winning a 6th major at age 50 would be very impressive and definitely move him up the list of all time greats.  Interesting if Koepka pulls it off he is tied with Phil for major wins and he has won multiple US Opens.

Saddleback summit must have gotten 30-40" from that earlier storm.  Rangeley measured 17" down by the lake at 1530'.

It was supposedly 4 feet! It snowed another 6” over night on Saturday. May have been the greatest two ski days of my life. It snowed another 10” that Sunday night as well, I regret not staying another night.
