  1. Looks like a big forecast bust here in the NRV. 80% of thunderstorns today according to the NWS. radar looks pathetic, more sun and warmer than forecast. Looks like a dry frontal passage here today.
  2. Wow. Only 75? They are running a bit behind. Of course, they can hit 90 into October. Yea, 2016 was a miserable hot summer and 2018 seemed like it would never end. Hurricane Michael finally ended that summer. Do you happen to have this years stats for Augusta Bush Field (KAGS)? Here in the NRV, today may be the last time this year we get close to 90. Highs will be in the 70s by week's end.
  3. I'm probably gonna be in for a real shock this winter. Lived my whole life near Columbia SC. Now, I'm in SW VA.
  4. So true. Columbia is an awful place unless you like hot, humid and dry sunny weather.
  5. Me too. Being over 2,000 feet in SW Virginia has me pretty excited. Columbia is pretty much a bad place if you like exciting weather.
  6. Thunderstorm with heavy rain in Christiansburg. Still only one 90 degree day so far in 2019. Such a far cry from the hell that is Columbia SC
  7. That place is hotter than 3 hells. Had a nice, cool 65 for a low and a warm 86 for a high here in the NRV.
  8. Just got slammed for the 3rd time in 48 hours. These MCS storms are legit. Winds were pretty insane. Torrential rains and some really nasty lightning.
  9. Enhanced??? We got slammed last night with only a slight probability.
  10. We got nailed by that line around 4am. Trees and power lines downed across the midlands of SC. Second severe thunderstorm event in less than 48 hours with more in the forecast. Pretty unusual for late June down here
  11. Got hammered here in Blythewood. Easily 50+ mph winds. Trees down and power outages widespread across central SC.
  12. Severe thunderstorm warning for Blythewood SC(my area). Sky is looking pretty ominous.
  13. Looking really ominous NW of Columbia SC. Caught this on SC highway cam. I-26 MM 97.5 looking west.
  14. Robert posted on FB earlier. He is really thinking this could be a big event, especially in and around the Apps. He's saying from n. Florida to southern VA are under the gun.
  15. Looks like I'm the last hold out in this group then.
  16. Got ya. You are in that "Savannah/ Chattooga river screwzone. I've noticed in some situations that a nose of warm air will travel up the Savannah river all the way to the escarpment. Your best snow bet in SC is from Greenville county and Northeast along and north of I-85. Downsloping is our worst enemy in SC and east GA.
  17. Bingo.... This is absolutely the worst area for a weather enthusiast. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I'm surprised you do so bad with snow considering your location. Most areas north of 85 do pretty good with snow. Looks to be another rain free day today, and our string of dry days continue. I'm quite frankly skeptical about these models showing 5-7 inches of rain in my area.
  18. I'm Southwest of you and it's bone dry here. Today is looking like another dry day.
  19. Fair enough. The problem is while the mountains were getting lots of rain, many areas east and south of the mountains weren't getting much. Many areas already had significant deficits by the time the heat wave/drought arrived. The more droughts, the stronger and longer lasting the heatwaves are. We just spent over a week with a burn ban. Im not one of those that want deluges every day of the year, but I know how bad droughts can get here too. You guys in the mountains are so fortunate. Btw, I'm currently in Blythewood SC, about 20 miles north of KCAE.
  20. Seriously????? Why don't you move down here then. You can have all the drought your heart desires. I have no idea why some people love heat and drought so much....
  21. Lucky you. Amazing what difference being one state to the north can do. We are getting close to a month without measurable rain here, and I'm skeptical that this pattern will produce for my area.
