  1. And dewpoint at IAD is up to 65 already, not too far from the disgusting range. Didn't take too bloody long, didn't it? Hopes will always be crushed in this damned climate.
  2. Light rain in Vienna. Wasn't in this morning's forecast!
  3. Dewpoint still in the muggy mid-sixties. Shouldn't the real front have passed through by now?
  4. Just started raining in Merrifield
  5. Remember a couple of days ago, when a cold front was supposed to give the DC area sub-60 dewpoints this Saturday??
  6. Nobody reached 100 yesterday despite full sunshine. With the clouds this morning, and it still being in the 70s three hours after sunrise, I'm kind of skeptical of the three-digit forecast today.
  7. I really hate muggy, overcast weekend mornings, especially when the forecast calls for zero sun.
  8. Tiny cell just popped up over Vienna.
  9. AFDs used to be a lot more interesting, varied and idiosyncratic back in the 1990s. A model "forecasting mins for planet Venus". "I just shake my head at the LFM." Nowadays they have to stick with their template: synopsis, short term, long term, and all the IDGAF stuff (aviation, marine, tides) at the bottom. All kind of samey,
  10. About ten minutes of total sunshine yesterday. I thought today was supposed to be brighter, but the latest forecast has backpedaled on that. Grr. I hate gloomy Sundays.
  11. Didn't a cold front supposedly pass with the pre-dawn thunderstorms? The DC area still has SW winds and DPs in the upper sixties.
  12. Or even better, a few Pacific tropical storms that drench Southern California and end the drought.
  13. I wonder what's the record for a cutoff low remaining in one place. If it's possible for one to park itself over the Mid-Atlantic for a solid month I bet it's going to happen one of these springs.
  14. Got hit with surprise hail in Vienna. Knocked a substantial branch off a dead tree in my backyard.
  15. Tysons Corner had a few very light sprinkles an hour ago.
  16. These unforecast midday showers and cloud cover should make the afternoon storms pretty tame.
  17. Partly sunny till around 7, now it's the same gloomy overcast we had Saturday.
  18. I remember fondly the dry spell of late summer 1995 (zero rain from August 7 through September 8). The lack of soil moisture cut the humidity to a considerable degree, and decimated the mosquito population.
  19. Just had a pretty heavy downpour in Tysons Corner.
  20. Imagine having to live in Juneau, Alaska, where this sort of weather is typical for May and can last all summer (July 2008 had an *average* high of 58, and at least a trace of rain fell every day but one. Monthly high was a torrid 73.)
  21. We can just never seem to get a sunny and dry May, can we??
  22. Freeze warning won't verify. Clouds, wind, wind, wind and more wind.
  23. I hope this doesn't hang around all day. The NWS forecast implied there would be maybe an hour or two of fog that would burn off, so I left my windows open at home.
