    About ten minutes of total sunshine yesterday. I thought today was supposed to be brighter, but the latest forecast has backpedaled on that. Grr. I hate gloomy Sundays.

    Didn't a cold front supposedly pass with the pre-dawn thunderstorms? The DC area still has SW winds and DPs in the upper sixties.

    I wonder what's the record for a cutoff low remaining in one place. If it's possible for one to park itself over the Mid-Atlantic for a solid month I bet it's going to happen one of these springs.

    Got hit with surprise hail in Vienna. Knocked a substantial branch off a dead tree in my backyard.

    Tysons Corner had a few very light sprinkles an hour ago.

    These unforecast midday showers and cloud cover should make the afternoon storms pretty tame.

    Partly sunny till around 7, now it's the same gloomy overcast we had Saturday.

    I remember fondly the dry spell of late summer 1995 (zero rain from August 7 through September 8). The lack of soil moisture cut the humidity to a considerable degree, and decimated the mosquito population.

    Just had a pretty heavy downpour in Tysons Corner.

    Imagine having to live in Juneau, Alaska, where this sort of weather is typical for May and can last all summer (July 2008 had an *average* high of 58, and at least a trace of rain fell every day but one. Monthly high was a torrid 73.)

    Freeze warning won't verify. Clouds, wind, wind, wind and more wind.

    I hope this doesn't hang around all day. The NWS forecast implied there would be maybe an hour or two of fog that would burn off, so I left my windows open at home.

    NY City - that's one heck of a heat island!!

    The worst April I remember was 1983. At least a trace of rain on 18 of the first 25 days, and there was, I think, *one* sunny day. The high for the first 21 days of the month was only 64, then it got all the way up to 68. After another spell in the low fifties, the pattern finally broke on the 26th, and temps soared to 88 on the 28th.

    Well, we usually get extended stretches of nice weather in the fall, except when tropical storms affect the area. October is almost always our sunniest month.

    We can just never seem to get a real spell of settled, sunny weather in April or May!! Frustrating as all hell.

    It was supposed to be near 60 today, but since 10 a.m. the temperature actually dropped into the forties!

    Still only in the sixties and I've seen only glimpses of sun since about 9:30. I thought it was supposed to clear out and really heat up before the front got through. We'll never see upper 70s at this rate.
