HELLO AND GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE BUT ALSO APPARENTLY TO THIS RAT SNAKE IN MY BONUS BUILDING

We get those all the time.  The nicer ones that don't nip or musk us when handling we sometimes hold on to and feed the rodents we catch in the non lethal traps.  We have two indoor and countless outdoor cats we take care of and damn if we still don't get field mice in the buildings.  My wife and I are experienced snake/rep handlers so not scared of them and no one should be IMHO.

I saved a dozen or so hailstones in my freezer.  Send me a couple Gs to help repair my car dents and cracks in my home siding and I'll throw them at your windows as hard as I can.  It's a win-win for both of us.

    I'm with you!

For those asking for it let me tell you something.  When you've never feared for your life, you think that's something you want.  It's most certainly NOT!  I've gotten older and for the most part, wiser.  I've experienced severe property damage AND bodily injury in the form of central nervous system damage and sensory impairment from sideflashes from being too close to CG.  Have huge respect for all aspects.  Being told by authorities that a shelter was safe when in fact it wasn't due to the plans being wrong (elevation 20 feet lower than actual) and having to climb above a drop ceiling holding on to sprinkler system pipes to escape storm surge waters.  I could write a book regaling my tales of experience both at sea and on land from weather both expected and unexpected, my fault and not, etc.  I remember when I always thought it would be neat to be in an earthquake and when I experienced it I realized it was something I would not want.  It's like something straight out of a Stephen King horror story!  And I'm more of the "back woodsy" kind of guy that's been around danger and on occasion shaken hands with it numerous times.

Be careful what you wish for! ;)

See my two posts on pg 1 of this thread. I couldn't believe it either at first.

Did not see that, wow May 3rd.  Going to check tonight.  Definitely expect them tomorrow.  I'd love to see a repeat of 2019 and spent two weeks in FL so I missed the peak in June.  Even so, before I left it was quite spectacular.  We have unmowed meadows here that are a haven for them and it gets almost Milky Way over the cover.  Absolutely stunning show by nature.

  4. And here we go!

Issued: 2:03 PM May. 19, 2022 – National Weather Service
...EARLY SEASON HEAT FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

Temperatures will rise into the 90s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
for the first time since last Autumn. Friday will be the first 90
degree day in the Baltimore and Washington Metropolitan Areas
since last September. Saturday is forecast to be the hottest day
of the weekend, with many locations reaching the mid-90s and heat
indices approaching 100. This level of heat will continue through
    Sunday.

The abrupt beginning of hot temperatures early in the season after
a relatively cool spring brings an increased risk of heat
illnesses unless proper precautions are taken for those working
    or recreating outdoors.

Since many outdoor events are planned this weekend in the region,
be aware of the heat, and take extra precautions if you work or
spend time outside this weekend. Reschedule strenuous activities
to early morning or evening. Plan to wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing, and seek shade from the sun. Schedule frequent
res breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments and stay
    hydrated with non-alcoholic beverages.

Not a drop...nice severe cloud day, lol Is southern MD/Nova a better spot for severe than north? Or do I just have a recency bias?

This area is not good for severe and snow.  Before 9/11 it was referred as a disaster free zone.  (NoVA/DC).  Now they say natural disaster free. ;)

And hail, you want to see the big stuff get out to the plains.  But prepare to have your car totaled if you don't have a garage.  And that garage needs a good roof.  Typical 3 tab shingles over 1/2" plywood isn't cutting it.

  6. Probably (at least) another frost advisory for the first week into May.  Not really uncommon for us.  It's a PITA this year because I have tiny (starter) Hibiscus trees that are pretty much intolerant of sub 40s and really don't like 50s and my indoor plant room is preoccupied.

I'm telling ya if we get a 3rd consecutive nina...it might be the longest big snow drought since the 70s. Well, for my yard anyway....Some of you tried to tell me before this winter began that I was jumping the gun...but lo and behold look what happened! Busy NS train of vorts with no space, coastal scraper benefiting CAPE and other beaches...textbook. Exactly the kind of thing I expected going in.

But I suppose it's still better than no snow at all...I just miss warning events, man. Never got 'em every year, but this may be year #7 of nickel and dime events. Basically like 70-78! Boooo....

Too bad (Nina) cannot be sabotaged like say a sequencer!  LOL
