Wow. LWX anything but bullish in their 3:00 update. A whole lot of nothing. Even the Mon/Tues was a mix bag. Favoring warner side of temps mostly as well. Ugh. Hopefully later models will turn that around.
They upped the wintry precip chances to likely on Saturday so their confidence increased a bit after the 12z runs. Temps look marginal to begin the event so I'm sure they'll be mixing somewhere, so seems like a reasonable forecast at the moment.

If that Euro map is rain at 30-32 then ....well...look out your window...nothing to see folks
I wouldn't agree with this. I think a lot of us today have seen a little freezing rain then a lot of 33 degree rain. Speaking of ice storms though, I experienced 2 really bad ones living in northern Louisiana in December 1999, then again in December 2000. We lived in the woods about 30 miles south of the Arkansas border and it was solid pine trees. I just remember sitting out on our porch watching the sky light up green from transformers blowing and hearing the pop and crash of pine trees snapping all around throughout the night. The trees would snap off halfway and the bottom part of the trunk that was still attached would swing wildly back and forth. The damage to the trees was like a slow motion hurricane. We lost power for 8 days in 1999 and 9 days in 2000. The town that we lived near (Ruston) was 100% without power. Those were some of the craziest weather memories I have. I was only 9-10 years old and didn't record any video...I so wish I would have.

Snow, then a little sleet, to now freezing rain in Gaithersburg. I don’t have a thermometer but the leaves are icy, and definitely feels cold out there.

Light dusting of snow on cars in Gaithersburg

My parents live in Seattle so I've been checking on their weather situation. Man, the mid atlantic forecast is depressing to look at after going through the models for the Seattle area. They're going to get buried!

I just measured about 1.2" in Gaithersburg. The snow slowed down as of now.

Small flakes but it’s picked up in intensity just a bit in Gaithersburg. Definitely light snow but it’s really pretty how it’s immediately sticking to everything.

Just drove from Gaithersburg to Rockville and roads were definitely becoming covered. If y’all pass a slow car with an Alabama license plate just go around, not used to driving in the snow yet ha.

Big fat heavy flakes have transitioned to small but numerous flakes in Gaithersburg. I'm impressed so far. Didn't expect to have a nice white coating yet! I just moved here so I haven't bought a thermometer. Left my weather station up at my roommate's house in Alabama since I'm in an apartment here.

First flakes of the day just started to fall in Gaithersburg.

The radar certainly seems to the blossoming to the southwest and moving north. Looks promising!

I wonder if Birmingham, AL or DC will get more snow from this. Could be close lol

looks like we waste a tremendous amount of qpf on rain per GFs
Why so negative all the time? The gfs seems to be trending heavier with the snow as well

That storm is long gone. Let it go.
It's nothing to just forget about. The way it's trending, it looks like it could end up scraping the coast and influencing the atmosphere ahead of the front.

Huh? It was a disaster
I thought next Tuesday looked great, and it seems like we can't rule out a snow shower Sat-Monday either. Not a bad trend over the last few runs.

Reading through the last few pages of this thread, you'd think the models showed rainstorm after rainstorm. I just looked at the GFS myself and was pleasantly surprised to see plenty of snow opportunities. Hard to imagine that we won't get a winter storm in the the next couple weeks. I guess it's mainly that Pennsylvania guy that's giving this forum a negative vibe. Let's just ignore him...I'm sure he lives a sad sad life and is looking for attention.

I just officially moved to Gaithersburg from Mobile, AL last night so I'm just excited to see flakes fly! On my drive up yesterday, there was still quite a bit of ice on the trees along I-81 between Roanoke and Lexington, VA.

Ahhh thanks man! I figured we weren't talking about Omar N. Bradley airport in Moberly, MO. This makes sense.
