So I’ve only lived in this area for 3 years, and not too familiar with the microclimates of some cities. I’m wondering specifically what’s up with the low amounts in Cumberland compared with the surrounding areas? Is it a rain shadow from the mountains? 

A few limbs down in Gaithersburg. I’m impressed!

2.75” snow in Gaithersburg and the sleet transition just happened. Been walking around out there for the last 2 hours and it’s beautiful!

I saw that post and looked like there was sleet accumulated in that picture in Raleigh. So more of a dividing line between snow/sleet vs. snow/no precip in Raleigh/Durham.

Regardless of how much snow we get, it’s going to be a nice stormy evening to cook gumbo, watch the playoffs and enjoy the wind drive precip bouncing around outside. Cheers to the weekend y’all. Since I’ve moved from Alabama to Gaithersburg in 2019, we haven’t had more than 5 inches from one storm here. Maybe that’ll end before the winter’s over!

I can tell you’re not a glass half full kind of person. Any wrap around is always a bonus!

Wow I really did learn a lot from that video, thanks for sharing. He’s a lot better teacher than I ever would have suspected after following his Twitter for the last year. 

Looks like we got a nice little band set up while I was sleeping! Stayed up to watch the start but had to call it a night at 1 am. Measured between 4.5 - 5” in Gaithersburg near Rio. It varies as it’s a bit wind blown. Beautiful out there! 

Ground is white in Gaithersburg!

Precip is blossoming is SW Virginia now so hopefully we can tamp down the snow hole freak show in here a bit.

Light sleet/snow mix now in Gaithersburg.  Nice to have a good snow to freshen the ground up before the flip.
