January Medium/Long Range: A snowy January ahead?

In not mentally prepared for another week of this. Wow, what a turn of events! What is the timing of this again? -
100% - it is cold AF this morning with the wind too. Ground already white from yesterday. Not going to see green grass for a while now. Snow on snow coming and it’s going to stick around.

GFS blended with GEM and it’s a beaut - 8-12” would be amazing with the upcoming cold. Get used to white ground!

This is really a 6-12” storm. With the fluctuations in models, this range is legitimately the best bet.

Rocking 32 degrees and winds 15-20+ right now. Feels and looks like winter with the entire ground coated in white. Great night to be outside for a bit

Blend the GFS/CMC/EURO and we jack. 100% good where we sit right now.

So often we lose steam heading into a storm. This baby just keeps juicing up on the way in. Models appear to finally be 'agreeing' now. Let's get the euro to move north just a bit from 06z and lock this in.

ICON is maybe a slight south but overall, works for most and looks very similar to 06z

Yeah, anyone complaining about this run of the NAM shouldn’t be. No south trend and temps are so close to a beat down. Snow still going at the end of the run too

Woke up and just read pages 21-29. The whirlwind of emotions has me reeling… GFS finally got its act together at 06z. Goal posts seem to be narrowing. Still really liking Loudoun to DC. As long as we stay near the bullseye, we can afford subtle shifts.

Seems like this system is coming in more dynamic every run. Starting to feel good we see some foot+ amounts throughout the region

It’s hard to think the euro wavers at this point in the game. We are closing in on 2-3 days out now and euro is solid as can be. I would hope the GFS follows suit more like the euro at 00z.
