  1. Radar on CWG is a thing of beauty for DC, Eldersburg, Columbia, Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, Alexandria, Franconia, Dale City, St Charles, Towson and B more. WHOOOP. Towson, Manassas and Centerville just getting clipped.
  2. Yes! Got up to get some water, looked outside and its snowing for real right now! looks like about another inch of covering. Goodbye snizzle in SE DC! Temp at 33.
  3. It's all over but the shouting. A fresh coating of snow to finish up in SE DC...older snow under ice, crunchy and slick. Snow plows never made it through the neighborhood but I got a good view of them going in circles on the hill parking lot. Some black ice in spots. Current temp at 32 degrees.
  4. Earlier had icy snizzle and freezing rain (great for night time skating rinks). Snow has picked up, winds SSE. TV snow, but at least its visible. Current temp at 33 degrees. Don't know if the bands will make it to DC but hope springs eternal. One of the neighbors made a big snowman from clearing their driveway.
  5. I would just post a sticky giving guidance on how to interpret Miller B's at some latitudes. It would save a lot of white noise, silly emotion over snow and over analysis.
  6. Night Cap in SE DC...roads are covered again in snow slush and black ice. Was surprised because the precip is almost invisible. Temp now 31, down from today's high of 34. Plow trucks circling the neighborhood taking in the sight.
  7. Winding down under early evening skies in SE DC...hoping for more pity flakes. Had lost some accumulation even before the second wave.
  8. Buisness is picking up here in SE DC...temp down to 32 from 34 earlier this afternoon. Streets lookin' like snow cones. Rates I'd call 'light moderate'. Mixed size flakes. Unless there's some overall accumulation I'm wondering if we'll even make minimum totals here. Makes me despise clown maps all the more.
  9. Tiny sneet falling that requires a microscope to see. Temp now at 34. Streets wet.
  10. ~2 inches in SE DC. If we snow another week we might make totals, lol. My neck of the woods...
  11. Snowing more lightly, a mix of large/small flakes. Temp at 32. About 1/1/2 inches. Everything covered.
  12. Solid, steady flow of smaller icy flakes. Streets now 70 percent covered and caving rapidly. Minimal wind.
  13. Snowed baby powder since 4am . Snow picking up intensity in last 15 minutes. 1/2" coating on cars, grass and some driveways. Streets were damp, now looking more icy than white. SE DC proper. 31 degrees and holding since precip started.
  14. Interesting topic. I'm in far SE across the river...pretty much everything is at elevation, you can see it across Sousa bridge and down 295. I'm at 143 feet elev. The block behind me is even higher. I looked up a topographic map of DC. It's basically a bowl, elevation is around the perimeters and flat in the middle (downtown). Lots of trees and green out this way too. Capitol Hill /Navy Yard SE is more 'inland' and similar to downtown. Amazing people think the only elevation is in NW...probably because of climo banding and temp on accumulation forecasts. Navy Yard is just nonstop concrete and hot as inferno during the summer. I have no idea the thinking when all the green was removed.
  15. Fine, icy sleet. Temp still not budging from 32. Streets look like ice rink. Saw two squirrels so fat they couldn't bend over to dig for nuts. Good sign for the remaining winter!!!
  16. I'm further into SE and its definitely steady here. Snow is very icy in texture. Car went down the street and pieces flew around the tires. Still right at freezing.
  17. Moderate snow. Streets white, good cover on lawns/cars. Holding steady at 32 degrees.
  18. Snowing nicely now. Lawns dusted, streets getting frosty. Temp dropped to 32. wind was NW-SE now reduced.
  19. 33 degrees in SE DC., elevation 143. Icy flakes sticking to grass and mulch. Streets wet.
