GEFS through d12 or so shows a repeating pattern of storm tracks. Some with 3 in a row. Obviously expecting 3 clean storms in a row is complete crazy talk... I just like seeing the potential for 3 chances in 2 weeks. Give us 3 chances and we'll prob hit on 1 of them. The way this year has treated us it would make sense to hit 2-3 out of 3. I just want another event so I can top climo. Don't care how it happens and don't care if it's a thump to rain.
On a side note... My son has made $600 cold cash shoveling this year. He's only 14 and between his summer lawn mows/odd jobs he's pulled in nearly $1,200. He bought a refurbed macbook pro already and still has a box full of cash. He's a great son on all levels. As long as he avoids problems with drugs and alcohol he's going to be very successful in life.
If he can make it over to Colesville, he can add us to his client list.

Yeah I've been reading up on that storm lately...those pics are amazing! (And I can imagine the forecasting pandemonium since they had only called for a few inches at best...lol)
I was 7 years old for the '66 blizzard and our Silver Spring neighborhood was buried. We had tons of fun tunneling through drifts. The biggest one I can recall was about 8-10 feet tall and completely blocked access to the front porch and door of a good friend's house. Another, in his backyard, was about 5 feet but was a consistent 5 feet all over his flat backyard, except the area right against the house which had so little snow you could see the grass.

Not sure why LWX hasn’t expanded the SSW east yet...
Seems irresponsible.

Let me know how it goes. Wife is at Weis now. Told her to wait. Warned her it was coming. I’m stuck in Baltimore as usual.
Worst of it looks headed straight to Baltimore.

yep. the Weather Channel owns Weatherundground.
Exactly. Maybe they should spend less time giving stupid names to winter weather, more time vetting their data feeds.

Did anyone seriously think that giving the Euro two more chances a day to say no would be an improvement ?
So, if we get rid of it altogether, we get more snow!

I like how the Maryland DOTs are wasting taxpayer money with bringing when it's going to start as a mix or rain (I-95 east) for a time.
Similar to security theater at the airport.

1966 there were drifts over 10' in my White Oak Maryland neighborhood. Endless fun for my seven year old self.

To keep things in perspective: If you look at the top DC winter storms: Eight from late January into mid February (1899, 1922, 1966, 1999 (ice), 2000, 2010, 2011, 2016), Three have fallen on President's Day (1979, 1983, 2003); and one in March. I don't give up until March 14 (Superstorm'93).
March 13th, 1993, in DC area anyway. My daughter's second birthday.

If you have a front or all wheel drive it will be a breeze. Roads will be mostly empty
Okay, And if you get that Rockville-Columbia death band, please make sure it is wide enough to include Cloverly. And Colesville. That is all.

Flurries at capital one arena.
Heading there in a couple of hours for the Caps-Jackets game. Wondering how bad the drive from Glenmont Metro back to Cloverly is will be afterward, around 10:30pm.

Nice for weenies, but I hope that's not their primary way of alerting the public. Way too complicated.

Hmmm. I said a couple of days ago that I thought 66 would end up the cutoff. I think i am going to bust. Maybe route 50 instead? Either way that puts me out of the game. Congrats to ya'll down south. Enjoy.
I thought 50 and 66 crossed each other.

It's easy to criticse from the sidelines but no body knows what happened before hand or what they were thinking. I for one am grateful they are okay and have no intention of talking negatively about them. To each their own though
Where else should people comment from, under several feet of surge?

In case anyone was wondering, its still muggy as fuuck outside. Please have this cold front do to the humid air what the Saints offense did to the Skins defense
Please, make this so. the humidity is starting to cause my hardwood floors to cup, despite keeping the AC on very cold. Probably should get a dehumidifier.

It's the banter thread your safe here. To be fair that probably would have passed on the main thread. Were running in unprecedented territory with this storm so will just have to find out. I'm not willing to take a more southwestern landfall off the table until the 0z Euro has a say in this.
It was moved here from the Storm Mode thread, lol.
