  1. You called it yesterday, congrats. Did you measure 5, it seems high. Pics from the 5th ward look under 5.
  2. weathertap radar does a great job pinpointing the intensity of the death bands, but the free stuff from noaa does a better job pinpointing the non accumulating light stuff.
  3. your hood did well this winter all things considered.
  4. Wow. The weenies 20-30 miles SE of you are crying like a bit ch! How far are you from the CT border?
  5. He's referring to UUU, the Newport state airport in the upper part of Middletown a couple miles north of your fanny. This area, close as it is, probably has double the snow you have.
  6. The weather coverage is better than ever before because of the technology but news reporting is a shell of itself because local stations don't have the money they used to with so many viewers migrating to cable, internet and everything else that barely existed twenty years ago.
  7. The famous southern rhode island snow hole has been particularly venomous today. Everyone is getting significantly more except BID, MVY and ACK.
  8. Yesterday you predicted what would happen to you and you were spot on. I don't even think Jay Leno's caretaker will need to plow his driveway. MVY had a blizzard warning and they're getting screwed too, as are portions of Connecticut away from the extreme eastern sliver of the state. Jimmy's reporting 5 inches. More than I thought he'd have at this point.
  9. Anyone remember the total number of outages from February 2013 in RI and MA? CT had a drier snow and was largely spared but outages I believe spiked at around a quarter million in southern areas. I suspect we'll reach a hundred thousand today.
  10. I'll reserve judgment for the next few hours for our southernmost weenies who always get screwed. See how this shakes out. I'm sure rex tillerson is really melting down about now.
  11. He gets a huge pass for this event. There will be huge meltdowns from a lot of people regionwide who are getting screwed once those great pics from Taunton start getting posted.
  12. If you live in New Bedford or Hyannis, this is going to go down as a huge bust if you paid attention to ANY of the forecasts last night. EVERY forecast, every tv outlet, every website is going to bust. If you live in Cape Cod, MA and you were reading this site last night and saw a forecast of 40 inches, it's safe to say it's a bust. This is a lesson for all professional forecasters who forecast for extreme southeast New England: be judicious when forecasting big snow amounts in March in these areas with marginal temps. Of course these areas have smaller populations relative to the urban centers farther north and west in southern new England, but still.....if you're a little weenie in Hyannis right now you're hurtin big time. My advice, check out some real Busts!!
  13. This is a classic southern new England spring snowstorm. There will be some major forecast busts in southern coastal areas. Epic busts. Cantore is on the beach in Plymouth. Slush puddles. Newport has an inch, the snow is beginning to melt there.
  14. How far are you from Chatham? It's 34 there at the airport.
  15. 34 and s+ on the north side of new Bedford. Within an hour or two power outage reports from se MA just inland should start coming in.
  16. impressive. and it's not one of those oft quoted, bogus ham radio reports.
  17. Not a surprise. The radar has been humming in that area all morning. Berkley, fall river highlands, freetown etc near and along route 24.
  18. Maybe not Taunton, which sits in a heavily wooded area right smack in the middle of interior SE MA, but some southern coastal areas will bust worse than the poor technician who has to perform a mammogram on stormy daniels.
  19. None of the reporting stations are reporting heavy snow. Taunton is the only location I could find reporting moderate snow with a viz at a half mile. so far we bustin.
  20. The heaviest bands appear to be parking itself just north of you in north Kingstown. Narragansett so far has double the amount of snow than Newport, only 5 miles to your east across the bay.
