It turns out 30 degree rain in mid Feb during the day is mostly just rain. Some light slushy ice coating deck railings etc, but most surfaces just wet.
Might be more interesting if it is still precipitating later.
Yeah, down to 29.7 here, only surfaces that are shaded or very light color have decent accretion. If this were at night or mid 20s might be more interesting.
Looks like precip will pull out before 5 pm.

29.8/26.1, light frza

Light rain just started here. Temp up to 30.
It will be interesting to see just how much of it freezes during the daytime. Don't think roads will be much of a problem here.
Yeah temp 30 down here too, stuck in a dry slot per usual, dp is 21.5 for what that is worth. The little bit of rain from earlier did not freeze on the cars so I do not foresee this frza event causing any issues.

Not sure why or how, but Easton always finds the dry slot, even during a fzra event

3/1/15 IMBY
I don't remember that storm, but looked up the weather archive on Mount Holly and apparently Easton had 0.25" of fzra from that storm. That March gave us some nice snows.

Does anyone remember the last time an ice storm actually had ice accretion on roads and sidewalks? I have a memory of a storm in the early 00s when I lived in Baltimore County where we had some snow that must have changed over to frza and some friends were able to ice skate down sidewalks.
I don't think this storm has enough cold air and the ground is not cold enough to do that except maybe nw of the fall line.
I would imagine an arctic airmass that is in place long enough to freeze the soil would be needed to really have ice accretion on paved surfaces.
BTW what happened to that arctic air we were supposed to get around now?

29.7, rain starting might have heard a ping, waiting for my 0.5" of ice depicted on the Euro to verify

I have not kept up with the potential ice storm, how's it look for our region?

Dusting in Easton from the northern edge of wave 2.
Nothing on the ground from wave 1. Interesting driving down here, There was some light snow cover in the northern half of Talbot Co, but nothing much south of that.
@CAPE thanks for writing up my storm obs! Don't short change us on the hours of freezing rain and sleet....

Not much meltage yesterday, and should be less today. We did ok considering. Don't have to drive too far south to find barely anything otg.

Under yellows in Harford County. Nothing falling lol. Is something wrong with the radar?
Yeah the radar representation of precip is off for a large portion of our area

The southern Delmarva peninsula is famous for its heavy snows and deep snowpack starting mid-feb and running through mid-june.

Is it snowing in St. Mary’s or is that all virga? It’s like a force field preventing it from advancing into central Calvert
Snowing down there, virga elsewhere.

Light to moderate snow in Easton since about 900 AM, 0.25" on the coldest surfaces (raised, white, deck railing) , temps a touch warm for accumulation. If this same precip happened a bit earlier would have been easily 0.5" on everything.
-
0.25" on coldest surfaces, 32.2, mostly white rain.
-
Sleet and freezing rain most of the night, light snow now, dusting, 32.4. Mesos did a good job for my area, even capturing this AM snow.
So is wave 2 still off the table?
-
Dusting in Easton now
-
Few flakes to close out the storm, had decent amount of ice.
Not sure when the next real snow chance will be.

Steady light snow continues to fall here. Quite pretty out and so quiet. 1.5" currently. Maybe I can get to 2", which would at least get close to the low end of what was forecast. Probably will head out for a hike.
Dastardly combo of a sneaky warm layer and a precip dead zone kind of messed things up here.
0.0 in Easton, good amount of ice though.

Sleet and rain in Easton, 32 right now, definite ice accretion on trees. Seems snow line is up somewhere north of queenstown.
