Good Saturday morning everyone,
My feeling is that there may not be enough instability (heat, Cape) in advance for much svr, but some of the modeling as per SPC D1 545z discussion still gives opportunity. Just looks to me like primary event is a bit too soon this afternoon and with cloud cover, the best heat 90+ looks south of our area. Therefore, think best chance severe is I80-i78 as someone previously mentioned. So for this NYC metro forum, would think it will rain and if we get lucky, a few spots near I80 should pick up 0.5-1.5" in heavy convection this afternoon-evening w still a small chance svr. Suspect, there will be better days this summer for westerly flow severe in NYC. Just has trended a little further south and faster since Wednesdays post (result less primed prior instability)
Follow SPC, your local NWS forecast offices for updates from their view, and your other knowledgeable resources-friends. If I do manage a svr storm, I'll post here. Otherwise, it's an mPing day.

0z NAM continues with the northern theme, very little for anyone in this subforum through tomorrow evening.
Thats from the leftover debris from the lakes tomorrow AM. We want that north of us if we want a severe threat tomorrow afternoon. June 3rd, the debris moved into our area overnight, and southern NJ got hammered. Im still thinking this is a south of I-78 special but we'll see

Congrats in advance central/snj again, for this saturday...lol
We had an amazing year for thunderstorms last year in NYC metro...Did you guys forget about the baby bow echo that rolled through late august that produced 90 mph winds on LI and 50-60mph gusts from NENJ to the boroughs? Or the long tracked tornadic supercell that made its way from Scranton to Bayonne/S.I
Im willing to pay the piper for that amazing year. Overall, as someone who enjoys seeing crazy weather, its been nice to enjoy some nice neutral weather for once. Knowing nature though, shes probably got something crazy in store for us later in the year.- 1

Well it can't get any worse than the past winter.
Well not obviously considered winter...to me , getting snow in may made it ALL worth it. Something we'll most likely (at the coast) never see again. If you were to ask me in september if id trade this winter for some may flakes..my answer?
HECK YES.

Legit almost want to cry. I can't believe we've seen snow in May. I didn't think it was possible in our current lifetimes. Well..It happened. Snow. In may. This has made up for the whole winter for me. Words can't describe how happy I am. Cheers, those underage grab your juice, those of age grab your beer, let us all take this moment...This is once in a lifetime

This is hands down the wildest thing I've ever seen in May.
37 degrees with a wind chill of 26...Craziness! Some flakes and crazy wind gusts. Honestly at a loss for words right now. -

rain in the jersey city heights
Hm. It was a rain/snow mix the last time I went out to check. Probably a heavier echo. Southern end of JC , near NJCU at the Rivet. It was accompanied by a crazy gust of wind.

FAT FLAKES mixing in with hugggge gusts of wind now
