What is the significance of terminating DoD satellite data? Will it affect forecasting?

Yeah, seemed to appear out of nowhere.

That system barreling into the four corners mucks up the western/southern part of the trough.

You can argue that the surface low should be at the DelMarVa here.

Definitely consolidating the energy earlier and more efficiently.

Wouldn't be a legitimate tracking of a coastal without the GFS punting wide 4-6 days out.

Fairly confined precip field.

GFS has been disturbingly consistent.

Probably still time for models to incrementally drive the energy into the system in successive runs. But can't afford any steps back at this point.
