  1. First thing I noticed this morning over coffee, even before Frieden pointed it out, trees were bare, so it being a dry, pixie dust type of snow, likely will help. Yes, seems like dialing back on ice a bit. I am monitoring the Dominion map on my other screen to see if a pattern emerges, right now just ticked up to close to 3,500 out from 2,700 and number of projects doubled, but that is from a big swath with 2.8 million customers. Right now, majority of that is Newport News. Will monitor to see if a trend or march continues westward.
  2. Yeah, just moving the generator over to a more covered spot and this stuff is not easy to walk in. I could only imagine driving in it.
  3. Yeah agreed, Euro ahead of the storm and the NAM with the details, seems to be the norm.
  4. Yeah, I would guess plows hard to get it all. Anybody know what the peak snow measurement was before changeover? Maybe 2” like others, was hoping for more. HR crew, over to freezing rain yet? Everybody have power?
  5. In a hot tub watching the snow fall? If you have a cigar and bourbon, you are living my dream sir, well done.
  6. Nice rates now. 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch but heaviest snow ❄️ of the evening. I am not sure if it’s mixing or just the rate, but audibly loud falling, we get heavy snow so rarely, hard to tell.
  7. Picking up pace in Tuckahoe...pixie flakes, instant stick on the roads.
  8. NBC12 has cut back a tad as well, now 3-6" down from 4-8"
  9. It looks like a little lower or just a little refinement with their color bands. Feel like they had 4-6" for RVA earlier, now 2-4"
  10. Thanks for checking in! Always appreciate your posts from over the years, have learned a lot from you and the other red taggers, it makes it tolerable to put up with some the weenie posts and whining in the main thread, makes this a legitimate source for knowledge and awareness!
  11. Yeah, between storm prep, upset with the Hoos blowing a 16 point lead, so, prophetic that they had to move the Tony Bennett court dedication, as transition defense was absent in the second half. Finally, all things done here. Generator test run successful, provisions from yellow umbrella for easy dinners a couple of nights, takeout from Bistro 804 tonight. Slumming and drinking a decent cab from a box, but makers is my go to. Had some woodford reserve last night. Nice to see some energy in the RIC/HR thread, let's keep it going guys, so few of us and the main thread thinks DC is the COTU.
  12. Prepping for the worst. I am going to get two more 5 gallon gas cans, Mechanicsville Lowe's has them if you are looking. Nobody in my zip code does (23229). Then, going to Home Depot to pick up my grounding stake, wire and proper gauge extension cords for my generator. Have not used it yet, about time I got it ready and learned how.
  13. That would be just like PDII, have had that feeling since the get go.
  14. She should be fine, seems to be pushing to a later start, it was 6PM at our best forecast, but thinking it's looking more like 8PM or later now, and she should not be running into any of it along the way, as should reach here first before further up 95.
  15. Have been thinking and doing some prep since Wednesday, have a small generator that can run some things but not an electric heater. Have a wood fireplace so stocked there. Had an indoor propane heater on order for delivery today, but got notice yesterday, out of stock and order cancelled. Think I might be out of luck trying to find a Mr. Buddy portable propane heater around town.
  16. That's pretty reserved for DT and looks in line. I hate his start time though.
  17. As many times as we have seen this, RVA in the bullseye only to end up on the southern end or shutout, you think, or one would think, the models could be adjusted or a study should be done.
  18. Looks like the Nicholson YES reaction is having issues, you will just have to imagine. Keep the good ju-ju coming Conway.
  19. Yeah, still a little surprised at the model differences, NWS and TV mets, certainly using a blend because if they went all Euro, totals would be lower and they would be sounding the alarms louder. Will we see capitulation from EURO or all the others toward EURO, is lock in today's runs or tomorrow's? Also, GFS has the hurricane hunter data in it, as well as EURO, but heard some red taggers saying they should have spent more time on getting data on the high pressure in Canada.
  20. OTBS, if RVA gets that 7” snowfall, breaks the drought of 6” plus and should put us over climo with still chances and time for more. I did not have that on my bingo card for a forecasted Nina winter.
  21. Yeah, I was living on Gaskins Road for 1994 ice storm. Treacherous event but short in duration. My car skidded home that night and I could not make it up the hill next day to mar my shift and Ukrop’s Fresh Express. It melted pretty quick. So not like this one is projected. 1999 Super Bowl storm was more damaging and impactful, hope we don’t do that type of event.
  22. Yeah, TV Mets seem to be leaning that way as well. Just based on history, seems to make sense.
