Heavy sleet with snow mixed in just east of phl
-
Back to snow just east of phl
-
Seems like sleet now outside phl
-
Went outside to get the trash cans. Maybe 1" now on hard surfaces. It's snow again.
-
Doesn't seem like it's snowing right here outside of philadelphia despite what radar suggests. Sleet I guess. About 1/2" total accumulation. Going to be a gross mixture that probably ends up being a pain to shovel
-
Maybe an inch here so far. Haven't ventured out there. The birds are making noises though guess they don't mind
-
Going with 3-6 imby. Seen higher totals out there, don't like em at all.

Again, who cares? Think about yourself.
"But the news people were saying"....c'mon now.
You're being strange. I don't like it. Good luck

Glad this event was canceled. Had bad things written all over it for the region

Not to nitpick, but everything I've seen said afternoon/evening...
People mentioned after 6 on here. They should stick to their day jobs. Freezing rain already falling. No one said 12pm lol lame stream included. Hopefully anyone who took their advice from internet weatherman is safe out there!

Who cares? If you have to travel, use your judgement and make the best decision...
Uhh I care? What kind of question is that. I don't need to go anywhere but the news was saying and people were asking here if the daytime would be OK. The consensus was yes. Can't even predict the weather a day in advance LOL

What happened to this being an evening thing?

I don't have a generator. Guess I'll grill outside by a fire if it comes to it lol

I don't care if the rest of this month is snowy but I can't deal with more of this in March. I need good weather to work on my boat and some stuff outside. Working from home and putting my own gym in the basement has been awesome since I hate going out in the cold lol but I'm ready to at least work outside and get some fresh air.

Eyeball probably passing 3 here, and still hanging on to snow...National Park NJ across from PHL. Noticing some very light returns filling in a bit west of me too, wondering if we can add a little back end pixie dust into the morning.
Supposedly mantua has about 4 according to NWS

It's a tough field. Not sure how far you'll get without an earth science/met degree. I switched majors a decade ago to IT since I met so many unemployed dudes with degrees in the field. Best financial decision I made in my life probably but I'm sure I'd rather be a weatherman. Best of luck.

1.5" maybe just outside of Philly. Lame stream news media gets it wrong again

Eh, never really saw anyone talk about the mixing but it was always an issue. I do agree that it's more north than anticipated though. Still got pingers going here near PHL. It'll switch back eventually

I'm in SJ - Haddonfield area - and we had 3" of snow last night when we shoveled before bed. I was supposed to wake up to a lot more snow, but it looks like only a 1/2" of sleet. As long as we get snow for half of the remainder of the storm we should be much closer to 8" than 4", imho.
For the record, I am not an amateur meteorologist like most on this site, I just like reading what everyone thinks about the models and I love how excited everyone gets for a proper storm.
Temp is 33 but the wind is making it feel murderously cold.
I think that's fair. I didn't expect this to amount to anything for SNJ a few days ago but ended up guessing 5-10 for the upper part of SNJ and 4-8 for the lower, and I think that's going to end up panning out perfect.
Seems like this busted for the mid atlantic people, or busted in terms of what they were hoping for. Feel kind of bad for them folks.
I will say this. I hate kuchera maps. I've said that before. And I hate models like the RGEM and the ICON. A lot of these maps/models showed unbelievable numbers for a lot of people. I think that is on the person still though. If someone chooses to ignore good models because they do not like the outcome or cling to kucheras, it's on them. Either way this ends up being the most snow I've seen in years. I've never even had to shovel since I bought my house a few years ago lol.

8-16 is still in the ballpark for a lot of people. we still have more than 24 hours to go until this is all done
I'm only referring to SNJ. Sorry for the confusion!
Stay safe on the roads anyone who has to deal with the afternoon commute. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere today.

I think this is panning out exactly how models dictated, namely the GFS. Mixing was always going to come right up into Philadelphia, it was so weird that many people and the local news ignored that. Anyways, maybe 3" total one mile from PHL, some sort of sleet precip falling. Some of the crazier numbers of 8-16 were never going to happen here, was kind of weird NWS would say that. Probably still a 4-8 or 5-10 situation which is still significant.

GFS is king. Euro has been garbage this year. As a result I already know most of the precipitation in the Philadelphia region will be rain and there's no chance for all snow. Not even a chance for mostly snow. Do not lose sleep over this storm, it won't be what you want it to be. Don't fall into the trap of other models. I will reply to this comment in one week lol, see ya then.

Been nothing but sleet east of PHL. Just shoveled and it sucked. Heavy. Maybe 2.5" or so
