In light of what appears to be a potentially impressive lake effect event in parts of the Great Lakes early next week I figured now is a good time to start up the region's lake effect thread for the winter. IWX hinting at the event beginning Monday.
Quote850 mb temps in the wake of the cold front will drop to -15 to -18C, with cyclonic flow lingering aloft through at least Wednesday. This will set us up for (potentially significant) lake effect snow in north-northwest wind favored regions. Temperatures will be much colder, with highs in the 20s and low 30s. Lows will be in the teens and low 20s.

A fun graphical interpretation of the event early next week from the TV station I work at.
