A general comment, not just directed at you: most people on this forum know their climo.
But if you’re a warm weenie (or snow, severe, etc.), climo isn’t good enough. It’s just how life goes.
If you’re a sports fan, an average season isn’t good enough. You don’t play the game for an average season, you play to win it all.
And if you enjoy something in life, you want more of it. I like chocolate, so eating an average amount of chocolate isn’t good enough.
I know these are strange analogies, but it’s reality.
what if you like hookers and blow?

seems to me like we may be having a cold and dreary summer this year, which would suck, but I guess we're due for one.
Lol cold wet summer.- 4

Looks like snow will be gone a tad sooner this year (maybe another week) thanks to the crazy week of warmth, I can't imagine how long it'd have hung around if this had been a typical April.
Cool one today with a high of 34 forecast but at least the uprising and violence in the coop is under control now that the ladies are able to roam, scratch around, eat worms. Thankfully they'll shit more outside too. winter coop duty- not fun.
remaining snowpack
Does your ground freeze with all that snow?

Don’t tell hardypalmdude he’s gonna cream his boyshorts
We just need to have the remaining winter cold dissipate. What we have is a warm Canada, polar jet evaporated and we are left with the stagnant leftovers (ie blocked pattern). Once it dissolves to nothing we can resume warmth.- 1

That’s usually about the time most of the remaining snow is gone around here.

yeah looks trash, western edge of the worst at least here
what's up with springs lately? 3 days to 1 week of nice then 3 weeks of trash. rinse and repeat. why are trash patterns easy to lock in?

It looks like the option has been taken away to see the 16-day GFS as text output. Does it work for anyone else or does someone know of a comparable site?
It’s gone. Clearly another site must have this? To see all the parameters on one page for all 384 hours? -
July 1995 is one of those rare weather months that stands out in my memory. At the time we lived in a house with two window A/C units, one in the living room and one in my parents' bedroom which they didn't like to use because they didn't trust the wiring up there (1920's house with one two-prong outlet per bedroom, except the master which had two, my dad upgraded all the wiring on the first floor but never got around to the second before we moved out). I don't think nine-year-old me wore a shirt outside of school all month. Fans going full blast in every room and almost nightly thunderstorms. Good times.
My parents didn’t have AC so I went through summer of 95 with just fans.- 1

So I am seeing mjo crawl through phase 7 on its way to phase 1 and going into the cod. NAO, AO, EPO all tanking while the PNA goes positive?
Thank god for a greenhouse. At least I have strong sun.- 1

Hitting mid 80s here in southern Wisconsin. This pattern isn’t actually that far off from what we had in March “Morch” 2012. This is not a one day warm up then back down — we have sustaining.
I saw the signs of a week of this back when I said we would have a Morch.
Delayed but not denied.- 4

The mild to warm temp is great. However, a bit of humidity would be nice because the air is very dry.
We have no foliage for evapotranspiration.

Palm tree weather is on the horizon. I've already begun moving batches of mine outside this week. By this weekend I'll have 400+ palms outside.

Haven't had a chance to put out any April thoughts with the active severe weather pattern ongoing, but...
Spring is here for April, let's just put it that way. We are losing a lot of the ridging that has been in place up north, which was shunting the remaining cold air down into our region.
I feel highly confident in saying Chicago has seen it's last accumulating snow for the season, which was back on 3/13. There's a better chance of racking up numerous 70+ days this month than seeing more accumulating snowfall.
Morch was delayed, not denied.

GRR talked about that in the overnight AFD also. It will be interesting to see what if anything can develop near Lake Michigan.
Having Lake Michigan next to us is like living near the Arctic Ocean.

This might be a cold summer akin to 1997. Might want to get our heads wrapped around that possibility.
