Agreed, El Nino tends to promote wet/cool in the SE; whereas La Nina focuses more storms west of the apps. Still looking like El Nino for this winter (70%).
I don't know what to root for anymore. Last year, everyone said the purported La Nina was bad news for winter lovers, but it was a bonanza winter of memorable cold and snow for the Triad.

While the Triad has been plenty humid this month, the highest air temperature has been 92, with most of the month now behind us. Not bad for August. We haven't been above 92 in a month, and 95 is the hottest of the year thus far.

The coming heat wave is likely to have few record highs but is still a big deal. Its just that the hysteria whipped up yesterday by GFS does not look to be the case Its backed off and much more like Euro ensembles

April in 2017 was the warmest in 132 years in Raleigh. 2018 was 9 degrees colder and the 21st coldest in 132 years. Coldest since 1997

For all the hype over this week’s return of summer, for the Triad, the 90s last only two to four days. And low 90s at most. It’s hard to say precisely how many 90s because the peak highs will be 89-92, this week. Nothing major, then back into mid 80s by weekend.
