maybe the best radar signature we've seen on an incoming event all winter.....
Agreed. Too bad that upstream cold can’t involved sooner and blow this thing up.

Can we quit it with these pitiful looking snow swaths? For the love of all that is holy, it's February.-

Lookin like our first solid 4-8” decent ratio true winter snowfall with no mixing concerns. Bout time.
Plenty of time for things to go wrong.

Have been staying with my little dude about 6 miles south in Vernon Hills because my daughter has the flu. Just drove home to check on her/the wife. A bit more snow here. I’d guess...
About 1.9”

What a waste of nice parachutes this morning 34 degrees and snow just awful
Looks great. Isn’t adding up for squat. Maybe Groundhog Day period will actual produce something other than slop.

Got about an inch or so last night before it shut off. Temp stayed slightly above freezing the whole time, so it wasn’t stacking well, and some melted/compacted. Coming down good again now.

Steady fatties finally. This stuff will stick.

Not accumulating efficiently at all. Best of the band is already north of here.

Then how come only Milwaukee County was affected? If it’s warm air adverting from the East it would affect Kenosha, Racine, Ozaukee, etc. Counties unless it was lake/UHI effect.
Look at Racine obs. They flipped to rain last night too. It was raining here in Lake County by midnight.
Still don’t think tonight will work out.

Radar doesn’t look half bad for once this event.
...
Gotta say... as someone who lived in Lakeview for 8 years and then moved onto 2+ acres in the woods (in the burbs)...
Lakeview is kind of like the suburbs of the city. Just sayin’.

Edit: never mind, rates picked up, temp dropped, it’s sticking again for now-

GFS is best.
Pathetic performance. Iffy thermals, but that dropped the R/S line from Duluth to southern Missouri.

post the GFS instead, duh
Big fluffy flakes up here. Really doubt tomorrow night comes together like some of the models are showing.-

Solid sn with this last band, getting close to 2 now
So if you get 4” and it compacts/melts down to 2.5” by tomorrow AM... is that a win?

Closing in on 4”, blowing around pretty good, solid flake size. Forgot what this looks like.

Bit bigger than pixie at work in Rosemont. Will probably clear my driveway late tonight before the junk > flash freeze.

Alek has seemed to gain a flock of followers on here. Amazing the number of peeps join his camp lol
I'm sure those "followers" would be more than happy to disagree with him, but Alek the Contrarian has made a realistic call on this one.

Fully expecting 1.5" of snow/sleet followed by drizzle > into the freezer for the weekend. Tips of grass blades won't get covered.
This forum will be a giddy place when we finally get a solid snow threat with no risk of mixing/garbage.-

Its been pixie here here up until a few mins ago when a few dendi's started mixing in. round 2 should start up in a hr or so if reading the euro right and start to tail off between 9-10pm.
We’ve had on and off flakes since I woke up (aka the kids woke me up) this morning. At times it has actually looked pretty legit. It’s still only accumulated about an inch on the grass. Whatever happens this evening, I’m just glad we didn’t get the ice.

Flake size pretty solid at the office in Rosemont. Looks like a legit snowfall outside for once instead of the varying intensity crap we’ve seen all season. Let’s overachieve and restore some faith in winter tonight.
