No kidding. Watching my beta fish “Kevin” slowly freeze to death in his aquarium when I had no way to keep his water warm enough was heartbreaking enough. I can’t even begin to imagine all the real suffering that people went through. It would especially be a disaster since we have had the opportunity to address the problems that caused the widespread outages in ‘21.

So there night be a round 2?

So, things are pretty much over for DFW (near the airport) now. I ended up getting another 1/2 inch or so of snow over night and there are a very few flakes mixed with light “frizzle” falling right now. Total for my house (8.3 miles NNE of the DFW) is we’ll call it 1.75” of accumulation. This is slightly under the NWS forecast of 2 to 5 inches. It will be interesting to see if the “what happens in Dallas happens in Raleigh” hypothesis holds true. I needed to be about 30 miles north of here to have really cashed in so that part sounds familiar. There’s definitely enough to play in so your kids can still have fun though. Thanks for letting me hang back out with you for the event and I will be reading to see how it all shakes out for the SE.

We remain just on the fringe of the good action in the SW corner of Lewisville. Saw some more big flakes a little bit ago but still mostly rain/snow mix. Maybe I wake and see more accumulation, maybe not. 30. Miles too South to cash in this time. Fun to track though and got an extra couple of days off.

But unfortunately most of what has fallen at DFW this afternoon has been mixed. We have a lot of slush. When it has snowed, it has snowed really hard. But, not like even 25 or 30 mile north. I live in Denton County. The northern part of the county has scored. Us, not so much. However, with temperatures dropping quickly and the amount of moisture yet to come, I may have a better report from the overnight action. still hoping ya’ll get crushed.

We have continued to be more wintery mix and I am @ 30 miles South or so from most of those spots (sound familiar?). That said, there is still a lot more moisture and the TX forum folks think the heaviest is still yet to come. We shall see since the event is expected to last till midday tomorrow. will report in again in a few hours. will check back in the early evening

We have been mostly mixed here but there have been some moments of beautiful heavy snow as well.
-
Celina is 33 miles due north of me. They are doing much better than those of us closer to DFW. I have a very “unofficially measured” inch or so of icy mostly snow mix. We are getting periods of all snow, but not steady or consistent like just north of me (where has the SE Forum heard that before ? :))That said, even as I am typing this snow rates are picking back up. Once again, good luck guys and gals!!

Going by that criteria, we should stay cold enough as temps are freezing and below to the west of DFW.

Greetings SE Forum!! My house is located 8.3 miles NNE from DFW Airport. The event began to unfold here around an hour and a half ago with light mixing. Since that time we have been experiencing big FAT flakes, and then a more wintery mix but still almost all completely frozen. We are very early in the storm. At this very moment all snow at a moderate to heavy rate. But, so far it seems like we are vacillating back and forth btw all snow and then a mix. I am not as knowledgeable on map reading and such as most of you so I will continue to check in with my new friends in the Central States (TX) thread to better understand what things are looking like. I will report back in in a few hours and let ya’ll know how it’s going here. Having been an avid reader, lurker, and some time poster in the SE forum before moving here in 2017, my hope is that you get to see some action too.

Switching over to all snow ATM. My location is 8.3 miles NNE of DFW.
-
The very first little mix is starting to fall here in SW Lewisville.
-
Seems that NWS is becoming even less bullish on snow for this event in DFW. But, this is TX and who knows what’s gonna happen.
-
I literally live just to the left of the “8.4” under Plano and just over the “a” in Dallas. Me being a native of Rocky Mount NC (and Southeast Forum fan) pretty much dooms this from happening. But, I will let y’all know.
-
Fair points to be sure. And I wasn’t laughing at “you” but the potential “jinx”. I wouldn’t mind a decent snow. side note: we probably live within 30 mins of each other. My actual location is pretty much where Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Coppell bump into each other.
-
Lol @Powerball. We don’t want to be in the “jackpot” this early out.
-
Not worried about limbs.. I am worried about the grid itself. I went without heat or electricity for 5 days when it failed in 2021. But, yes, all snow > freezing rain every time.
-
As long as the power grid holds... bring it on.
-
It is looking more likely that we will get to test the Dallas >>>> RDU hypothesis. The weenies in TX are saying that we are setting up for a big one Thursday & Friday. Will report back later this week.
-
I will let y’all know what happens in DFW. Been here since 2017. Lived in Eastern NC up until then.
-
Certainly more than expected over here. Streets covered, puppies happy.
-
A few flurries and mix trickling down in south Lewisville area.
