  1. Maybe it's the microclimate, maybe my weather station is off, but I measured a 109 heat index Tuesday between the ridges here in Halls. Regardless, it's a nasty stretch here. I can't really complain though, because overall it's not been a bad summer at all. At this point, I just want storms. I can handle heat when there's a threat of afternoon boomers. Anyway, looking forward to fall temps. Hope John gets the sweep as well!
  2. Slick, thank you all for schooling me.
  3. I did not know that was possible!
  4. Damn dude, that's amazing that you saved those! I had one crappy zoomed out screenshot that I saved from Radarscope that wasn't even post worthy. You did a good thing there!
  5. Whew, glad you're ok. I'm thankful to have avoided any downed trees or significant hail in Halls. But man, there were some VERY close lightning strikes, confirmed with RadarScope. One had to have hit a tree a few yards away. Instant sonic boom, felt the heat off it.
  6. How frosty do we think next Monday morning will be? I just got my tomatoes in the ground, so I'm bracing for the worst I guess.
  7. So, what do we think about the threat of frost from here on out? Is Monday night looking sketchy or no? I need to get 'maters in the ground.
  8. I'm biased I guess because I'm contributing, and I know cheaper equipment is not always super reliable, but I'm quite fond of the Weather Underground network of stations. I can get a pretty good idea of what's going on locally looking at the site. I'll trust the crowd sourced data going forward before single official stations' observations when possible. I do very much appreciate MRX and the Weather Service in general, don't get me wrong. 17 degrees yesterday morning here between the ridges in Halls. Microclimates are always interesting.
  9. I held off booking a tent camping trip for spring break until yesterday. As soon as I reserved the site the GFS starts spitting out snow. Oh well, my kids will just have to deal with it! It'll be more memorable than sitting around looking at screens.
  10. Ok, which one of you posted the Sweetwater wind damage mPing? "Lawn furniture or trash cans displaced; Small twigs broken" Edit: LOL
  11. The question I have is, when is John leaving to watch the super bowl in Chatty? I'm planning my snowman around that.
  12. It snowed pretty hard for awhile between the ridges here in Halls, currently 33.6 degrees.
  13. Yay thunder! That's all I need to hear to know it's gonna snow January 22nd. Book it.
  14. That clipper was awesome, at least 1.5 to 2.0 here, the ground was legit covered. The road was destroyed early on. Evidently there was a salt truck that ended up in a ditch in Knox county. I'm a fan of MRX but they missed this one pretty big for the area.
  15. It's beautiful here in Halls. Roads got insta-white. We've had dimes, nickels, and even quarters mixing in. Hoping what's west of here on the radar holds together.
  16. I like that the 01z RAP is higher than any other American model snow total for TYS. We're in the wheelhouse baby! Edit: now with the meteogram
  17. My mom just texted me this from Paris TN: "It's coming a blizzard and I show 11 degrees. Winds are high, -4 wind chill, brutal night. Wish it would stop. Radar shows we are in the middle of the snow storm."
  18. You can check the weather station link in my signature, but my neighborhood is just to the east of the Weigles right as you enter Halls on north Broadway. There are quite a few weather stations in the valleys and ridges around here on Weather Underground. I forgot you're in Fountain City!
  19. Hello neighbor! I'm just south of Halls proper, nestled between Black Oak Ridge and Beaver Ridge in Hines Valley. The roads are brined, I guess we will see how effective that is.
  20. I'm excited to see this one unfold. The fact that it's all up in Christmas is a nice bonus.
