To each his own. Like I said, a different channel for it.

My thought was that it would have to be a pay channel along the lines of HBO or otherwise there would need to be about a 20-second delay and people ready to constantly hit a button to keep the FCC happy.  You and I and others here have witnessed many incidents on broadcast TV in which an upset athlete got too close to an open mic or viewers got lip-reading practice.

  2. I know people rip on Snyder (personally, I think it hasn't worked out there because fan does not equal great owner) but Peter Angelos ruined the Os.  The past few years has seemed to be a "don't give a crap" mode.

Good question.  Not sure Cox cable carries anything beyond what they have for each local network news channel.  Dunno if satellite or other cable offers that.  Not even sure what is offered via antenna anymore.

I have Cox (resists urge to say unladylike words) and WUSA9, the CBS affiliate, had the radar on one of its subchannels a bunch of years ago but got rid of it.  I'm pretty certain WJLA, the ABC affiliate, had (emphasis on had) a subchannel devoted to weather too.  Right now if my cable subchannels are any indication, none of the DC stations have a subchannel devoted to weather or the radar.

That’s a great story! Thanks for sharing.

I’m sure this is common knowledge, but it’s pretty easy to change the colors of a hydrangea by changing the pH value of the soil, but I don’t have a preference, so I let it do whatever it wants. Interestingly, mine was all blue the last two years, and now it’s mixed. I guess it will look like @Mrs.J’s soon.

The bridal shower taught me a very important lesson:  Check the "I bought it" box on the registry, because even if you think it's not possible that someone else will buy what you did for the shower, someone will and you'll be the person graciously volunteering to return a chainsaw to Home Depot.

Our hydrangea is doing well too! I took this pic on Sunday.

Seeing this photo reminds me of a time a bunch of years ago when a friend of mine, in the same conversation, was gushing about a new relationship she was in and also mentioned her favorite flowers:  yellow tulips and blue hydrangea.  Knowing who he was, about half an hour later he had an email in his inbox informing him of this flower preference.  He would have known me by name, but likely not by face.

Four days later, 10 p.m. on February 14, I got a phone call:  "It was YOU!!!!!!"  Well, yeah.  You unwittingly offered up actionable intelligence, I was a nice person, and he would have been an idiot not to get in touch with a florist so you could be the envy of a bunch of your coworkers.

I most certainly got an invitation to their wedding.

  6. Since the Orioles haven't done anything lately to allow MASN to show a recent "classic" game MASN is showing game 4 of the 1970 World Series against the Reds.

Those are some sideburns on Jim Palmer.

OK, maybe they're not that shocking.  Johnny Bench is sporting the same.

  7. My personal opinion, but if the NHL starts its next season in December I'm OK with that.  The regular season is too freakin' long.  When they had the strike-shortened season it was great because every game meant something.  And the NHL Center Ice subscription was only 50 bucks.

Bobby Orr did his flying leap on May 10 (50th anniversary this year!).  Now the Stanley Cup final goes into June.  Even Canadians are bored with hockey in June.  They need to shorten the season.  They won't, though.

My siblings and I played with one of those when I was a kid (the Falcon, not the beer); it's probably still in the parents' basement, but not in that pristine condition.

My family actually makes fun of me for my hatred of Empire Strikes Back.  Of course, I haven't seen a Star Wars movie since I endured whatever #2 was named and after that I threw in the towel.

Yeah, they also cited the lack of lifeguards since they normally use Eastern Europeans for the summer.  I find it hard to believe there aren’t college students home for summer or others in the local communities who are certified lifeguards but who knows.

I guess there were some people in my building who were hopeful they'd let the pool area open up for sunbathing even with the pool itself empty and uncovered.  Those hopes got crushed yesterday when the deck chairs got put back into storage.

Remove your security flood light because its shining in someone's sensitive eyes lol

There's a townhouse community right next to me, and the owners of one of the houses put in a backyard floodlight last year and kept it on 24/7.  Just recently it got turned off and it's not even put on at night.  I didn't even think of the possibility the HOA got to the owners.  The layout of the community means it's not hard for criminals to sneak around backyard areas (and there have been some incidents in the past year) so I didn't blame them one bit for installing one.  Now if the owners of another house could do something about their motion-sensor floodlight which is set so sensitive that sometimes it's like a little kid playing with a light switch...

We live in the Fairlington neighborhood in Arlington and the HOA just announced that the pools (there are 6 in our community) will not be in open due to COVID.  WTF.

My building's pool likely won't open either.  Given that it's sitting empty right now with the exception of some rain water and green stuff, even if they filled it today the pool water would get sufficiently warm maybe sometime later in July if the weather is hot enough.  Big reason they gave was lack of lifeguards, since a lot of them come from overseas every summer and this year they can't get here.

Chilly and blustery this morning with low to mid 40’s, but typical spring weather. Today was the day we were supposed to be leaving for the Netherlands and their tulips, and Belgium for their beer, but for now, this photo from the front yard and a St. Bernardus from the fridge will have to do.

Maybe next year we can experience the real deal.

You likely already know this, but another place to keep in mind to see tulips is Ottawa.  During WWII Canada took members of the Dutch royal family and when Princess Juliana gave birth to a daughter while there the hospital room was declared Dutch territory.  As well, Canada played a significant role in the liberation of The Netherlands.  As a mark of gratitude Ottawa receives around 10,000 tulips every year and there is even a tulip festival held in May (this year, it's an online festival).

It scrolled across the screen of the Winter Classic game that I was watching, but like you both, I don’t see it anywhere else. I could have misread it, so sorry if I jumped the gun.

Either way, hopefully they can get the playoffs in.

Just flipped on the NHL Network; the season is "paused until further notice".  The scouting combine, the NHL Awards ceremony, and the draft, which were expected to take place from June 1-6, have been postponed.

In addition, if they did come back this season they would have a short period of "training camp" before games resumed in earnest.

As an aside, hockey equipment maker Bauer is is now in the medical face shield business, and has made publicly available for other companies' use a diagram of their design.

I don't understand the run on TP.. this virus doesn't give you the shits as far as I know.. even if you run out, that's what showers and leaves are for

Diarrhea is one of the symptoms, although not everyone experiences it.
