I don't see us getting a major, regionwide event this year.
You make me sick.

Today is the day we see out snowstorm and begin to track. I told y’all, don’t give up until the weekend. We got time.
This winter I'm not giving up anything outside of 48 hours.

2024 D.C. is 1960s Jacksonville
I would say more 1960s Raleigh-Durham

This storm is certainly a screamer. One of the fastest backedge approaches I can remember right now.

Hah… I’m like @Ji . Love the digital chase. Difference is I think I’m less angry when it doesn’t turn out. Never once thought 5” was on the table… but I’m gonna share it and get into it cause what’s the point if you don’t weenie out on a weather forum?
I’d’ve loved an inch… but very happy with the massive flakes spiraling about. Win as far as I’m concernedI used to get more angry but if you temper your expectations and always remember climo around here you can get some fun events. It's still a frustrating thing tracking snow around these parts, though.

Pretty big flakes here now. I'd say 70/30 snow/rain

I really hate this winter with a passion. So much hype. Just a bunch of teases. I don't think it would have been an epic winter to this point, but it would have been a really good one if some of these perfect track storms would have been snow. Sitting here waiting on the dryslot to fill in while I can see the back edge flying east. Looks like I am going to get one little band out of this for 45 minutes to an hour and that's it. Dumbest hobby ever.
See you tonight for the 00z suite

90% rain here.

It tries but it never really does. Those HRRR advertised rates were hilarious.
HRRR always does that shit, especially with banding on deepening coastal lows.

38 with a few raggedy pity flakes mixing in now.
Pity flakes is a great term. We get a lot of those around here.

Couple of flakes mixing in here, still like 95% rain

GFS and NAM had it in their snow depth charts.
We don't talk about those here

Baltimore county closed too. Still very little precip here.
Our public school systems around here are pretty unreal. This is like a textbook case of having a 2 hour delay being the correct move. Or just open on time honestly.

0z RAP/HRRR has DCA falling to 34 during the snow. Huge bust potential here, but +SN at 33 would accumulate
Not sure how we can bust when our forecast is for nothing.

So do all of these evening runs now have extra data from the hurricane hunters?
Allegedly the dropsondes from the pass were just added for 00z. 23z HRRR had 2 of the dropsondes added as well, but not the full set of data.
