Only about 1/2" of snow last night, but it stuck to everything, including roads. cny_rider, bike ride this morning?
-
About 1" on elevated surfaces overnight. Roads were fine.

I hope you discovered all the tunnels that go from building to building on campus, took me two semesters to realize why I was the only one outside in the middle of winter.
Lol. Our tour guide brought them up several times. Walked through one of the overhead ones but didn't see any of the underground ones.

All is well. Back to classes shortly after I posted that. I’m sure that made for an interesting morning with 4-10yr olds!
Crazy. Nice downpour when that line got further east, but nothing like they had!

If he would have just stayed posted up at one spot "protecting it" everything would have been fine. Things came unraveled once he tried moving to a new location and cut right through the gathering of protesters. To me that is showing intent of wanting to stir the pot for a reaction. Video seems to show he did ultimately act in self defense, but he put himself in a really bad place with his actions leading up to the shooting.
Agreed. The prosecution either did a terrible job here, or he shouldn't have been brought up on murder charges. From what I've seen, every time he fired was in self defense. But he had no business being there in the first place.
Duff's wings were excellent! Crispy, which is the way to make them.

Stay away from every other forum. I visit every single one of them and we're the best one by far.
I think New England is pretty good. I don't interact much there (or here) but lots of good Met input there.

Nice rain this morning that I wasn't expecting. But this year I should always be ready for it.

Most trees are bare around here for past week+. But my parents house as well as mine have some maples that are notoriously late with their leaf turning, which I'm guessing has more to do with the variety of maple than anything else. But it's very annoying when it comes to winter-prep. There been plenty of years where we've had the first accumulating snowfall prior to being able to chop or rake the majority of the leaves. I'm giving it another week to 10 days and then converting the tractor over to winter ops.
Stick season in the Catskills, except for a couple Oaks hanging on.

Dolphins with 5 turnovers and still win. Just how bad are the Texans?

The house I got is about 3.5 miles east northeast of lowville up about 837'. I've been viewing the northernchateau cameras this past lake effect blast. Granted it was elev driven, but there is one west of lowville up about 1800' that got a good 2-4" Then ridge view lodge at 1060' had maybe a few tenths. Then the maple ridge camera had pretty much nothing as it was mainly rain. That was in about a 5 mile drive. Crazy how much elev plays a role in things
Can't be too far from Miller's Meat Market. Check that out for sure.

Walking around yesterday afternoon I still had ice in a wheelbarrow in a sheltered area. Low of 26 (I think) and snow showers apparently kept it around. Thermometer not in a good spot to get accurate high temps. Got down to 21 this morning. Looking forward to the dry stretch coming up!

You going to tour both campuses?
Duffs is a great bet for wings out near the campus.
If you're going to make your way downtown my favorite place is Pearl Street.
If you want a local hangout for students to checkout hit up Tea Leaf Cafe for bubble tea.
Thanks for the advice everyone. Plans changed due to the daughters boyfriends soccer team winning sectionals and therefore having a game Saturday. So as of now we'll be headed west on Veterans Day. Nice day trip, only 4.5 hours each way! Going to still try to get to Duff's for wings as that is one of my daughters favorite foods. If it goes well, we'll go again with more time and check out the area better.

Not too often I don't see at least snowflakes in October, but none this year. Hopefully at least flakes this week. Then it can go back to warm for awhile.

We really lucked out here, with the rain going to our west.
We are still saturated from earlier in the week. It wouldn't have taken much to have us flooding again.
Nice to miss one for once. 0.15” here.

Taking the daughter to UB next weekend to check it out. Any recommendations for hotels, dinner (bar and grill type place)? Any other need to see things nearby? Quick visit as we're checking out Ithaca on the way back Sunday.

29.0 here this morning. Keep it dry through Sunday evening so we can get our last baseball game in, then bring on winter!

I caved. Got down to 57° in the house again and switched the heat on.
Turned mine back on this morning too. 59° in the house with a forecast high of 47°, I figured it was time.

It’s coming, but yesterday and today so far have been beautiful here.
