  1. 74/57 sign me up for another couple months. Bugs are pretty much in the past (excluding yellow jackets). Best time of year.
  2. A mature black locust will burn without a hint of sizzle. All the moisture is in the sapwood. If we have a long firewood season and I'm out of seasoned wood I'll take down a few big old trees. Hate to do it but it's money.
  3. You need to upgrade your tackle box. No one's biting anymore.
  4. Nothing burns green. Although I'm sure balsam poplar dries pretty quick. Fastest drying wood I deal with is soft maple. Black cherry dries pretty quick too.
  5. This from the guy who claimed August was going to be the hottest ever.
  6. 73/53. Why on God's green earth (thanks Mom) would anyone want it hot and humid. Perfect day for a hike and a swim after...
  7. So sorry for your loss. It's the little things like tuning up snowblowers that you'll remember always.
  8. I wonder where that cold air In the upper Midwest is headed?
  9. Don't wait. Get your firewood now!
  10. 76/55 not sure it can get any nicer. Maybe a degree or two warmer than I'd like for working but I'll sacrifice for the greater good.
  11. This is a pretty cool article. The pictures are great You can zoom in here https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2024/08/19/colorado-photographer-captures-bobcats-adorably-playing-with-golf-balls-during-charity-tournament/
  12. But since I have a handful of matches and 200 cords of wood why the hell not ?
  13. You can't have everything you would like. Although on that I tend to agree with you. Don't want to be at the beach when it's 70.
  14. Good take. You would know better than I since it's your business. Hardly a study but I did poke around a little. Lots of airbnbs available at what looks like discounted rates. Although I don't use it so I don't have much of a baseline. What I do know something about is green fees. Both Green mountain national and Woodstock are wide open for the weekend. That I think it's a matter of price. I love Green mountain national but not at $150. 170$ for Woodstock is just stupid.
  15. I'm just a kind-hearted soul. Anything I can do to support my Americanwx brethren.
  16. A toll on tourism The summer washout took a toll on Vermont’s $3 billion tourism industry. In a typical year, 13 million people flock to the small state of 647,000 people to enjoy hiking, biking, leaf peeping and skiing. This year, summer tourism was down 10 to 15 percent" This is from last year. Do you think this year was better?
  17. How much is tourism down up there? The weather has been god awful. A couple summers like this one can do some serious damage. "Vermont? Are you kidding? It's always raining "
