  1. I get big time wind storms in the right setup here. I've lost of a bunch of stuff to wind here...I'm like how did my trashcan end up in the woods 250 yards away? ha
  2. I was just thinking of that actually, I know he has mentioned before that he really had no idea that spot was that snowy. Because of it being only 500' you just don't think it can snow that much. I mentioned this before, but I remember reading some ski forum a few years ago where some guy was just not believing any of his snow totals and basically calling him out saying " there is just no way you got that much at 500ft'" or something along those lines.
  3. As Will said, his location is the blueprint for upslope snow. I've have been calling it the magical hollow for years, nothing surprise me at all---- 5" in 30-40 minutes, sure why not. Ha You cant get frustrated seeing Jspin's absurd obs and PF at 1500' posting GIF after GIF after GIF of 30 dbz echoes and wondering why it isn't doing that in your backyard..its their own special zone and why PF gets the crickets in the main threads...lol. You will get plenty of white stuff.
  4. Lol, different world down here...got final leaf clean up done.
  5. Wife being only 30 certainly gives you more time, so that's nice. Yeah, can get to Bromley in 6-7 minutes, definitely was lol. Some of the more snooty valley folk in Dorset/Manchester look at the mountain towns as some different universe, almost Deliverance esque --you don't venture there unless you are strictly going to to ski.
  6. Yea, that's a tough call. Although without any kids you don't have to worry about school districts/etc and could probably find a nice weenie spot high up, although still pricier than 8 months ago, but you lose the close to work, close to town, close to restaurants/etc. We have been in a similar situation since we moved to VT. We looked at many places up high on the eastern slopes in the 2 times we have house shopped, but ended up in the valley because of all the reasons I listed above in addition to family nearby and school proximity. What's funny is that whenever we mentioned to realtors that we were also looking at places up in the Bromley/Stratton area, some would say "oh no, you dont want to be up there, you will never be able to get into town in the winter" like it was Sapporo or Snoqulamie pass...lol.
  7. Right, I'm noticing that also around here. The market is going on 6-7 months red hot, which is great for homeowners like myself, probably added 150k value since April, but horrible for locals looking to get into starter or lower priced single family homes. Those just don't even exist anymore, anything that is not a gut is snapped up in an instant and I even look at many houses and go "that house went for what?" Also, my wife works for a local Real Estate company and they hired 4 new realtors with many more inquiring about working there. Seems to be a new crop of people that are getting their real estate license looking to cash in on the current market.
  8. CPV was cookin' last night on southerly breeze. BTV low of 63F, what a 4-5 day torch. Even at 6am 60s were way up in interior Canada, guess the prairie lands. Low of 50F here, Bennington also roasting with a 61F low.
  9. Going to be some big diurnal ranges today in the lowest valley points. Saw some upper 20s in the deepest darkness low spots around here this morning. Maybe low- mid 70s by afternoon? Nice inversion this morning- it was 53F at 2600ft at stratton, 40f here at my house at 1100ft and 28-29F at 700ft.
  10. Got my bro-in-law to send me a pic as he was out today with the plow. Those oaks are still loaded too, what a nightmare. I mulch mow as much as I can then into the woods the rest go.
  11. Nonstop hum of leaf blowers here this weekend as well. My brother in law lives in ORH and has an ungodly amount of Oaks on his property. Ive never seen it, but he actually plows them with his pickup truck into the woods..ha.
  12. Stepping away from the election for a bit, quite the temp contrast out there tonight at 10pm.
  13. Where did you see Philly stopping? Maybe its a volume issue or that different cities/counties have different methods. No idea Edit: Philly commissioner said they can do 10-12K per hour.
  14. Right--PA, MI, WI couldn't even start until yesterday I believe.
  15. Savoy had 5.3", so not totally outrageous I guess, maybe a bit weenie-ish. Mitches area down through NW MA was getting lit up on radar early this morning.
  16. Same exact total here. I think tonight was always going to be the one to get the totals up in SVT, so we will see how it plays out. I have noticed that most of my uplsope events that produce anything substantial are almost always nocturnal. Substantial for here I consider 3-6", unless its an anomalous event like NOV '16 or Jan 2010 or something like that which were day and night events. It just seems like during the day time its always more cellular in nature while night its get more consolidated. Again, just speaking for my backyard specifically.
  17. On and off down here. Less than .5" so far. The main show looks to be tonight for SVT as that potent S/W rotates down out of Canada. Waterbury traffic cam looks borderline S+
  18. Maybe this is what you were reading, not sure, but BTV has a nice succinct write up about it. Even non METS can sort of understand. https://www.weather.gov/btv/froude
  19. Down here im thinking 1-2" at home and 4-5" at Woodford and 3-4" for Mitch.
  20. I know its different now and peoples schedules are more flexible, but I dont know how you can do a 6 hour drive for a weekend and then head back to NJ. I'm beat doing a 6-7 minute drive back after a long day..lol
