Great table, Unc. Love how far back it goes. This is another good way to spot the "good" winters.
Already discussed: Wonder if NYC will see a below-freezing morning in April, as we had one on November as well.
Maybe this week?

It came through roaring like an express train, but was relatively brief. At West Windsor, NJ.

Big flakes not necessarily bad, of course. Was an 11 yr old in Dec 1947 in Jersey City. Big flakes all day gave us over 2 feet of good stuff.

The big flakes are here in W Windsor NJ, after about 90 min of good snowfall.

As luck would have it, the records I have for New Haven begin on 5/1/1969. Here are snowfall reports from some other coops in CT for 2/9-10/1969:
Stamford 21.5"
Bridgeport 18"
Danbury 18"
Woodbury 17"
Hartford 16"
Shuttle Meadow Reservoir 18"
Middletown 22"
Colchester 19"
There was less in eastern CT: Groton only reported 5" but a few miles north Norwich had 12"
Thank you for that. I knew for sure that it exceeded a foot. Probably the low amount in Groton is related to the storm track and mixing that did not occur elsewhere? Norwich is probably a bit more elevated. (ed. nope) Nice data. Everyone loves surprises.

Feb 10 1969. I was in New Haven CT that year. Was elated to wake up to that storm, when I was expecting the usual snow-to-rain business. Anyone know how much snow fell in New Haven? Temps were around 30, if I remember correctly.

Tex Antoine was one of my childhood idles...he was up there with Mickey Mantle...
Tex would be in his glory tomorrow, explaining what was about to take place - a nice snowstorm.
I remember waiting up for him when I was a kid in the 50's. He was the best.

After hours of sleet, a few flakes are finally appearing here in W Windsor.

Sorry we missed the 10th anniversary. 1/26/2011.
This is the morning after, in West Windsor, near Princeton NJ.
From my deck. I love storms of this type, with a bit of wet sleet or drizzle before the finale, followed by wind, thunder and heavy snow.
Too bad it happened mostly after dark. My favorite since 2003.

nothing beats 1961 for sustained cold and snow cover for this time of year...Staten Island had 15 straight days with a minimum of 10 degrees or lower ending on Feb. 4th...on 1/24/61 for a second straight day it snowed a half inch or so adding to the foot that was on the ground...39.5" of snow fell on Staten Island from 1/15 to 2/4...27" snow depth on 2/4/61...Elizabeth NJ had almost 40" of snow with 15 straight days below ten degrees and numerous days below zero...it was -10 on a few mornings with a foot of snow on the ground...Dobbs Ferry NY got 54" of snow from 1/15-2/4...33" snow depth on 2/4...
I was across the Atlantic that one winter, and boy was I jealous to hear about all that good stuff happening. Snow, of course, but even the cold made me jealous. Of course, at 84, I'll take the snow now, but with less cold, thanks. Thanks, Uncle.

Very fluffy snow. Not even .25" liquid 30 to 1 ratios, back when clippers were a thing
This was the first "real" snow event I encountered after moving back East after 31 years in CA.

Thanks, Uncle, for those always amazing data. 1966 may be my own favorite, even though it was largely sleet. A lot more snow farther west, if I remember the NESIS map. It also had Thunder snow, or Thunder sleet. That;s always a plus. 1961 has good memories too. A more gentle and fluffy storm. Here's to another White Christmas, at long last. We're due for one now. I'll settle for a 1961 style one.
