  1. Glad to know it’s falling from the sky as opposed to falling from anywhere else.
  2. This image needs to be banned.
  3. I’ve noticed and I think it was mentioned in the New England forum that there’s some sort of random blob of heavy precipitation that keeps popping up near NYC as the low tracks just to the south. Any idea what is causing that on the models? Is that just banding?
  4. That debacle is still fresh and weighing on everyone’s mind. Not just clean up crews but the public in general. I don’t see it happening on Monday.
  5. 12z euro is tucked and crawls south of Long Island to over cape cod.
  6. Euro and CMC have the low stalling off Cape Cod. GFS stalls closer to Long Island.
  7. Euro is warmer initially than the 12z run. Wrap around snows clobber NW areas.
  8. I dunno, I feel like coastal folks should have been keeping their expectations tempered. Not to say there still isn't potential for the coast to see some snow. NW areas, obviously, do better this time of year.
  9. Why? The Euro gave several inches of snow for KNYC at 12z and 18z. Several other models show accumulating snowfall especially north and west of NYC which is within the metropolitan area.
  10. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I really see no problem here. A “snow alert” for a coating of snow isn’t overtly embellishing the forecast. They’re covering their bases, letting the public be aware snow is in the forecast saying a coating could happen. If it doesn’t happen no big deal.
  11. Much flatter and further off the coast. 10:1 is only an inch or two for areas close to the coast.
  12. After last years lackluster winter I think many are pessimistic.
  13. 0z Euro also spins up a much more robust system for the 11/12-13 time frame FWIW.
  14. 0z Euro is warmer for the coast compared to 12z. Pretty wide swath of 6+ goes from the Lower Hudson Valley through southern New England. Coastal areas don't see much snow if any.
  15. If nothing else comes of the storm I'm happy Tropical Tidbits has been earning some YouTube cash flow.
  16. Boxing Day is why I became a member here. I got stuck at my sisters in Leonardo, NJ for almost a week. I have no idea how they got legitimate snow measurements down the shore because of the drifts. In a class of its own.
  17. The guy can't type a grammatically accurate sentence for his life but the second half of this video is actually a pretty good explanation of teleconnections when it comes to snowstorms.
