That little bit of elevation really makes all the difference in these types of storms.

Somehow I don't think Madison meant for internet forum posting privileges to be protected speech.
It’s much easier getting away with being a jerk when you’re protected behind a computer screen.

TWC covering their assets. They say less than one inch of snow expected in the next 48 hours. But then the next line says that forecast can change.
Are you looking at The Weather Channel App? If so that should be the very last line of weather forecasting you should look at. Pretty much all of those apps are computer automated.

Can a met or more knowledgeable poster comment on the freezing rain threat? I’m not sure I’ve personally seen ice accretion higher than 1/4 of an inch and some of the model output is over an inch. It has me concerned.

Can't even imagine if the AFC championship was in New England instead of KC Sunday night
I’m always impressed with how NFL games seem to dodge snow storms.

Storm thread analysis:
Latest (insert model) run shows slightly less ideal solution, proclamations of storm is dead, winter is cancelled:
(Intermittent banter about overreactions/bad analysis of model output)
15 minutes later, latest (insert model) run shows slightly more ideal solution:

Boxing Day is why I became a member here. I got stuck at my sisters in Leonardo, NJ for almost a week. I have no idea how they got legitimate snow measurements down the shore because of the drifts. In a class of its own.

I’m so sick of rain.

Flurries have been falling here in Bergen County.

6 inches here. Sleet snow and rain.

Moderate snow in Ridgewood. Looks like 6+ on the ground. Gonna measure when I get home.

IIRC there were a couple pros on here last night who discussed the potential for this to overperform. The dew point last night in Boston was 1...that was a pretty good indication of things to come. Also these overrunning snows from the south always seem to overperform and are poorly forecasted by the models.
That’s fair but given how rare these November storms are I’m not surprised most people, including myself, were skeptical.

This is what can happen when forecasters play it super conservative. 90% of the public was completely unprepared along with most road crews. No excuse for this in an area that gets on average 30-40” of snow per year.
Agree but I’d say a similar amount of posters on this forum are surprised by the over performance.

Commuting home on the train in NJ. Some of the tracks are on fire...? Lol

I live on the dividing line where elevation starts to go up. A few miles to my north or west has a surprising difference when it comes to snowfall. Isotherm’s yearly average snowfall map reflects this really well.
