Can someone more knowledgeable explain why the correlation coefficient radar only shows the sleet line around the perimeter of the radar range and not in closer to the radar itself? Does it have to do with the angle over the distance?
Yes, it has to do with the beam height. You're seeing "sleet line" at a certain distance away from the radar because it's where snow aloft is melting into rain and refreezing back as sleet few thousand feet above the ground. Think of it as a mix zone with snow, rain, and sleet. The closer you are to radar, the lower into the atmosphere the radar beam is hitting so it's seeing mostly same stuff again (which is sleet in this case).

Just starting to snow here.

I've been telling people here to expect 4-8" before sleet move in. I have a hard time trusting higher amounts when we kept underperforming our events this winter. Plus, 3-km NAM isn't too excited about us getting more than 6".

Hitting here in PSM now...no thunder but very intense rates. 23F
Several miles up the road, we're finally getting light/moderate flakes and strong wind gusts. Nothing legendary, but still got a nice coating.

I just finished the snow clean-up. I'm glad it was only a flurry here. The driveway remains clear.
Especially with the cold coming up.

Can't even get mad at this miss. I'm happy with 6" on the ground.

It's funny because I've been reading on here for couple hours and I finally got the 7-10 reference. Look like a potentially clean miss here at this point.

Could be good for Scooter and other SE MA peeps.
Not looking great for me to see it, but I'm not sure if the radar beam is over-shooting the squall or if the squall is very weak in NH.

It generally ends up being a lot of play, ten minutes of fun, then you're left with an empty feeling of what's next.
So... like experiencing two minutes and half of total solar eclipse in Tennessee?

This will be my first snow squall I'll ever experience... so you can imagine I'm getting hype for this one haha

I think we finished with around 7”? Can you confirm?
Measured 6" in my yard.

6" on ground here.
31.4" for the season - 2nd snowiest in my life.
-
Last update of evening - 5" on the ground... still snowing steadily.
-
4.0" here in Dover. Look like we met GYX's forecast from this morning. Should also meet GYX's last call of 6".
As "crappy" as this winter has been for most people on here, next inch should push this winter to 2nd snowiest in my entire sunbathing lifetime so I can't really complain.

I’m eyeballing around 3” here. Thinking i easily finish with at least 6”. This map out of GYX I expect will do very well...
You got it right.
3.2" in my front yard.

A bit of an overachiever so far with 1.5" on ground here. GYX already bumped us to 4-8" range. I'll take that.

NAM suite look pretty good keeping the CF to southeast of me for 80-90% of event. Would be sweet if we can make that 100% all-snow, but I think what NAM is showing is our best scenario here in SE NH.

Congrats! You're handling it up here pretty well for a southern boy!
With all the arctic temps we had last year (remember the -20+ stuff?), didn't you have a high colder than this? Maybe not if you say so, but it's surprising nonetheless.
We had a colder low (-12 F) but not colder high (I think the coldest high was 5 F).
-
Coldest high in my life. Peaked at 2 F at DAW.

As a Rams fan, I guess I'm in the enemy territory for next two weeks. Gonna be fun talking smack with folks around here.
Oh and go Rams!
-
Hmmm.... still pretty cloudy here. Might have to drive around a bit to find an open sky for photography.

Calling it at 5" of snow/sleet.
-
12/8 at DAW.
-
2" on ground here. Still S/S- powder here. It is a bit windy and I'm kinda surrounded by trees so that might play a role too.

1.5" here so far with moderate rate of snow falling (0.5-0.75"/hr). Estimating we're 2-3 hours away from pinging.
