  1. It’s like a near perfect analogy of the mid spring in SNE. Above normal warmth right on our doorstep while that little zone of suck is parked right over us. You can’t make this crap up haha.
  2. May be the most snow some of us will see until…next spring!
  3. Feels like early April out here with this cool and cloudy sky overhead. A few breaks of sun at least would be really nice until this pattern of suck passes by. On an interesting note, I just snapped a quick shot of this little dude. I think it’s some kind of praying mantis but not sure of the exact type. Must be sitting by waiting for one of our many white months to stumble into its path. Always a cool thing to see!
  4. Yeah you def notice a distinctive heaviness to the air once we go above 70. For me, it’s just the vibe of being able to walk around in light clothing with very little discomfort, unless you happen to be doing intense activities outside. I’m a little more biased since when I’m out I tend to sit out with a nice cold drink and soak up the sun or I’ll take a nice slow walk in the woods with the old doggie. I always try to think of this weather relative to what we typically have in say mid January and it’s a world of difference for enjoying time outdoors, especially if you’re a slow mover like myself.
  5. I could get used to this, minus the showers and clouds. Reminds me of one of my last trips to Puerto Rico where you hardly notice the rain since it’s so warm all around you. Different folks, different strokes haha.
  6. Yep, just a tickle of stickiness in the air to remind us it’s still summer for a while longer. You really couldn’t have asked for much better weather for spending time outside. Just perfect imo.
  7. Jeez that’s wild. I’ve got a bunch of cousins that just moved down there like a week ago. Hopefully they’re hunkered down and riding this one out lol. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little bit jealous of their new backdrop.
  8. Yeah nah this ain’t summer. This is early April minus the fog and with a somewhat higher sun angle. If this were a month from now I’d be cool with these conditions but nah this ain’t it..way too soon for this kind of chill in the air. Add another 10 degrees and a little more moisture in the air and we’re golden. Believe me, the dried out lawns would appreciate it as well!
  9. Just pet three big frogs chilling around the walkway..my day is now complete. The summer of yore continues unabated!
  10. Nice little shot of a couple doves I managed to snag earlier at one of the baths. I think one of them might’ve just finished dunking half its body in the water lol.
  11. Yep 88/75 here atm..classic summer day!
  12. Yeah I always say another month of true summer weather would be really nice around here. I’m jealous of some of my cousins who recently made the big move down to North Carolina. I know from some past experience that the step down there is much more gradual and is fantastic if you like spending time at the beach, even later in the season. But I can’t complain too much, the cooler months have been much tamer lately and the winters are nothing like they used to be even just ten years ago. For now, we take and bake!
  13. Honestly I agree. It’s weird though, we've had a lot of small bees which I can’t really put a pin on showing up in recent days. Every time I go out to fill up my birdbaths they are just latched on to the edges, lapping up the residual moisture. It kind of freaks me out but so far they appear to have no interest in attacking me and just go straight for the water when I refill the basins. I’ll see if I can get a good shot later of the little guys when I’m out again.
  14. I eagerly await await for that nice cozy blob of red to make its way here just in time for the oct-dec time frame..couldn’t ask for a better gift during the holiday season
  15. I don’t know what’s with all this doom posting about ending summer. It’s a beautiful day and a perfect late summer evening as far as I can tell. I know we’re technically past the glory days of the season but there’s still some good gas left in the tank. Even the crazy hummingbirds are still making the rounds, albeit some pretty frantic ones before migration starts. Get the out there and enjoy it baby!
  16. Mother natures saving it for the time of year when no one’s expecting it..Christmas week. You know it’s coming baby.
  17. I shall find a way to endure in these trying times. Thank you for your steadfast support!
  18. This ain’t my kind of coc man. I’m sitting outside in long pants and a sweatshirt with a hot thermos filled with coffee struggling to keep warm. Nah, you can take your chilly cocs and put ‘em where the sun don’t shine.
  19. Eh you could be right. I do have a hard time making the distinction between the two sometimes. Either way, the finch season of yore continues.
  20. Yeah I know it’s kind of deceiving as the ones that are called purple don’t actually have much of that color on them. That plus the females have a much duller color scheme which is natures way of making them less of a target for predators. And for me, it’s just the sound they make which is unmistakable. When you hear a a whole bunch show up at once, it sounds like a tropical oasis. It’s just crazy though, I don’t remember seeing this many in our yard this consistently for practically weeks on end. It makes me wonder how much climate change or perhaps different migration routes are playing a role.
  21. The season of endless finches continue. I don't know why we’ve had so many this summer but it’ll be interesting to see how long the purple ones linger into the fall. Of course, we’ll know when the next spring has officially arrived once they start their to pop up again. Ya love to see it!
  22. It’s a little steamy out there, at least here in the swamps of coastal mass. Literally just hit back from a good walk myself. But I’d totally deluding myself if I said this type of stuff has much staying power compared to about a month ago, when we were at the heart of the season. It’s still good to see summer-like weather hanging around..hopefully we have a nice gradual step down with one more resurgence to get those final trips down to the beach. And as my guy torchy would say, perhaps a little tropical activity thrown into the mix as well, preferably in areas that actually need the rain!
