  1. Yea I follow 511, I just happened to be reading the Burlington afd and they mentioned observing road temps , so I wondered if other offices had something... I tried googling it and only came across an office in Georgia with a useful map... https://www.weather.gov/ffc/gdot_rwis
  2. Does anyone know if buf or bing have road temperature maps somewhere on there nws pages?? I
  3. Are you going to Jackson hole mtn resort or snow king? while Jackson proper may warm a bit the snow should still be amazing.... Have taken 4 snowmobile trips out there about 45 minutes outside of town and I’ve never been the slightest bit disappointed. Actually was there this past September again, with any luck I’d like to be living in that area in the next 5-7 years... Enjoy, hopefully you have a window seat, the view is nothing short of amazing as you’re coming in...
  4. Probably about 6”... let up for about 10 minutes now starting to pick back up
  5. Haha, I spent a few minutes thinking how I could word it to not have it sound that way... trip wasn’t bad, snow and snowy rds from Adams on up... glad I got out of there when I did snow seemed to expand quickly behind me
  6. I see nws talking about a brief burst of 3-4”/hr rates E of Ontario... I need to get up to Watertown to drop a load of salt in the am. I can unload in literally 30 seconds so if I am up there around 5-530am and turn and burn back south should I be ahead of it? Thanks
  7. It’s likely to get worse once you start heading East past the toll at Williamsville... you’ll be driving away from the warming influence of the lake and it changes quickly... A helpful link... At the bottom of the page are various sections of the thruway to click through... this is the Syracuse section which looks the worst at the moment https://www.thruway.ny.gov/travelers/map/text/twytextcameras.cgi?region=SYI90
  8. *Not sure if this is allowed in the forum so Mods please move if incorrect... After recently coming back from my 5th trip(1st in the summer/ non snowmobile related) in 11 yrs to the Teton area, I'm strongly considering a move to the W. WYO/ E. Idaho (about 1hr either side of the border) or perhaps W. Yellowstone/S. Montana area. I'd like to narrow down some areas in each state for the Gf and I to look around at. Im just getting my feet wet on this idea, this is probably 1-2yrs down the rd. Schools/education are of no concern, no kids and dont want kids. Not particularity religious. Im a local cdl A driver, though a move out there I would likely change careers. Probably something in the heavy equipment sector(pay loader/excavator at a gravel pit/ private construction or something) I do have some experience, no interest in the oil fields or on a rd crew however. She would be looking for something with wildlife. Whether it be at a zoo or working with animals in some capacity (not an officer/game warden/ ranger though) Im curious on the tax situation in these areas? I know there's no income tax in Wy, but killing time looking at real estate I see 2 million dollar 4500sq ft homes paying less in taxes (5200) than i do for my 160,000 home 1950 sqft (6400ish) Am I missing something here with property taxes? Taxes for houses in our range appear to only be in the 1500-2000/yr. Our housing budget would likely be in the 200-350K range. Ive been told there is some hefty vehicle tax fees in wy?? What other pro/cons should we be aware of? Coming from NY we are familar to cold/snow though I suspect these areas see more extended periods of extreme cold than we might be use to. We usually get 2-3 days below zero/ single digit highs and 1-2 nights -10/-15 lows per yr. I appreciate any and all info.
  9. Haha, I knew it...use to cut up peck to cty route 2 then up into redfield to snowmobile... dumped a few loads of salt at the county barn to
  10. First photo taken at the corner of peck/centerville by the county barn, right??
  11. Steady snow here since right 730-800am, just waiting for flake to increase....
  12. Is there any concern with the southern convection robbing moisture from streaming northward?
  13. Can anyone with any expertise in reading maps give me some advice. I need to take 3 days off from work to get some weather sensitive work done outside. Basically can’t rain or drop below 50 Ive been given the option of oct:3,4,5 or oct 10,11,12... either period looking better than the other or do I just throw a dart at a calendar?? thanks
  14. Am I mis-remembering or wasn’t there summer forecasts calling for slightly cooler to average and about average for rain??
