Watched WGN weather before bed last night. Met said he thought maybe the enhanced risk area would be shifted south and away from the area with the future update. Wake up to see the enhanced area expanded north and now I’m fully in it. Wonder if it’s less about the models and more about the subjective interpretation of the models that makes our weather feel so unpredictable.

I’m sure the spreadsheets say otherwise, but regarding drought, there have been so many brush fires out by me to start this spring Locally this past fall, winter, and now spring have been extremely dry. Couple that with some very high winds, there have been sirens quite often from neighboring towns heading off to the plume of smoke off in the distance. Burning leaves, even when things have been damp, is no problem at all. It’s almost scary to fire up the Smokey Joe right now for some brats. Just a very dry period locally and looking forward to a wet and humid spring to bring everything back to life out my way

Not unreasonable at all, 70s in March happening every year it feels like. Shoot, it was 68 on my car dash just 3 weeks ago before the cold snap hit

March 8th 1998 was one of my favorite weather events of all time. I was about 11 miles due south of midway airport. Woke up to a heavy wet snow that was caked to every tree, garage door, light pole etc. Somewhat unexpected and I think that one might have started as a rainer

Amen. Been a couple years since we’ve had winter. Just yesterday I was looking up the Illini baseball schedule. I’m already in spring mode.

I watch the LOT updates like a hawk (and this forum) when a storm is forecast simply because I don’t know what you all know. That said, I don’t think I can remember a time when LOT updated their graphics so often with so many forecast changes. Their graphic now shows me in the 70-100% chance of accumulating snow. Early this AM they had my location entirely as a wintry mix with little to no new accumulation Weird Storm for the pros and seasoned weather nerds

Tough times. 10 days ago things looked banging. Actually got lucky with the snow a couple days ago but to come away with *maybe* 5 inches during this active period is sort of a bummer when all said and done. Lots of tracking and very little payoff
