Anyone run a personal weather station? I just bought a Davis Vantage Vue last week and installed it this week. Today is the second full day it has been operational. Love it already. Sure beats the heck out of the Acurite one I had for the last several years.

Yeah I have the DVV as well, and also stream live (rapid fire) to WU. I bought it last November and started streaming online live around June of this year. So far it's been very durable, and very accurate.

I also stream to APRS, which is pretty cool because it shows up on GR2AE via AllisonHouse place files. This data is uploaded every 5 minutes.

EDIT: BTW, one of the cool aspects of uploading to APRS is the continual quality control audits that are run daily on each station. You get an email everyday with a full report with a quality analysis of your station, as it compares to surrounding official sites.

I have a Davis Vantage Pro Wireless that I bought back in '02. I had it streaming to WU and APRS, but it finally died about 2 months ago. It stopped transmitting and after changing the battery twice and consulting with Davis, it appears the the board is toast. Until then, it worked flawlessly.

You should be happy with your station and Davis offers great service. And ditto concerning cyclone77's comments on APRS.

No, since they don't sell it any more, they won't service it. I am on the lookout for a new board, because everything else works.

I have been told by many who have experienced problems with their Davis equipment that they are very good about helping solve problems, even as far as sending replacement parts at no cost even though the warranty had expired. I know that the couple of times that I had issues, they responded promptly by e-mail with the answer.

Even though their equipment is costly by comparison, I would recommend them due to their good service and the equipment seems to be quite accurate.
