2023 Mid-Atlantic Garden, Lawn, and Other Green Stuff Thread

Figured I should get this going since I noticed some of the local early-budding trees (silver maples?) were swelling just a bit after the recent mild spell. I'm sure I'll have to mow in a couple weeks. That really got me thinking about getting my seedlings started, which I now realize is only about a month away. And let's admit it...this winter is toast anyways, so we might as well start thinking about spring! -
With winter now behind us, it's time to get into summer mode and that means: lawn, gardens and pools! Started off yesterday by roto tilling the side garden and looking to put a couple more 4' x 10' raised beds in the next year or so. So far I've planted: Music garlic (100 cloves) Georgian Red garlic (60 cloves) So far I've ordered these seeds: Squash - Waltham Butternut & Long Island Cheese Cucumber - Early Fortune & ISIS Beets - Bull's Blood & Burpee Golden Pepper - Jalapeno Traveler Strain Tomatillo - Purple Radish - French Breakfast Tomato - Berkley Pink Tie Dye , Black Beauty, Kellogg's Breakfast, Rutgers, German Gold Poppy - Black Swan Sunflower - Russian Mammoth, Autumn Surprise Lupine - Purple Cosmos

I've been bitten by the gardening bug more and more every year. Living in PA and working in DC was especially torturous this time of year when the cherry blossoms and beets would be coming up, but we still were snowy and muddy in PA. Since moving to Baltimore County last August I've been giddy at the prospect of turning our house into a gardeners dream. Last year we put in 60 soft and hard neck garlic plants and had a 95% success rate....only a few more months until harvest!
