I talked to Copilot about this...basically...the snow growth happens more in the 700 MB zone rather than the 500 MB zone. So just because the 500 MB zone is dry doesn't mean snow doesn't form due to "dryness" since the 700 MB zone (lower) is wetter.

Thank you for this comment...I plugged it into Copilot and learned about snow growth zones within the air column.

The funniest thing to me about all of this…especially cause this is one of the bigger events in recent years and social media has exploded even more (in the 4 years since MBY had a big event)… I can go on Twitter and see all these weather accounts say “XYZ model is absolutely wrong I am telling you trust me” And then you go to their account and see their location gets much less snow with the “wrong” model Cracks me up! I’ve been lurking long enough that I know the battle ground between ice and snow will probably be straight through wake county per usual. Climatology tells me that solution is a little overdone. But I have far from an expert. .

The Mid Atlantic forum battling between whether they’ll get 10” or 20” of snow in their backyard. While we battle whether we will be without power for 2 days or a whole week. The vibe difference is terrifying .
