5" total to this point with some decent snow coming down 27.3/27 just south of point of rocks.

Has anybody seen little string or sticklike snowflakes like this before?

They're called "needles" - here's a great resource for snowflake types: http://www.its.caltech.edu/~atomic/snowcrystals/class/class-old.htm#:~:text=This system defines the seven,%2C ice pellets%2C and hail.

Parkville- Breezy, light snow. Got close to 3 inches today. The pixie dust snow was a bit disappointing today cutting down on accumulations, but I expected 2-5 today so wound up in that range.

If I'm not misunderstood, we should still get light/moderate snow tomorrow afternoon, maybe a few more inches?

Some of the best rates of the day right now, too. Finishing strong here.

Definitely not going to argue with that! Not sure why the reading I got was 2 degrees cooler. Cool to have another Parkville person in here!

I’m below the beltway by about a mile on the city line, so sometimes it’s a bit warmer here than surrounding Parkville. My station link is in my profile.

Roger Smith brought some facts to the meteorologist fight in the main obs thread. I am on team Roger.

Anyone living in Baltimore metro who loves snow should be on team Roger.

Painful to hear that just a few miles to my NNW is receiving snow and nada here in the Dalk

My elevation (nearly 400ft) really helps in marginal events like this. Was kinda surprising to change back over, even with temps on the rise.
