  1. On my way home from Lake Geneva currently.

Stuck on Rt 31, just north of Rt 176 due to multiple accidents and cars not being able to make it up the hill.

    .
Awful hill there for this kind of storm. I will take this for a non-advisory level storm any day.

  2. Granted it was end of day but interstates went haywire quickly in Milwaukee last Wednesday with snow that started in the 3 p.m. hour ("peak heating"). It wasn't treacherous but certainly greasy under the wheels combined with people forgetting how to drive.

Milwaukee County DOT had salt trucks in waiting mode deployed this morning even though they look to be fringed.

  3. Planning to get a good rest tonight and then an early a.m. drive to MKE to grab the sleds. Won't be getting up at 3:45 or 4 a.m. EST like Tiger said he would for his 9:30 a.m. tee time but figure on the road by 5:30 as snow just getting started and then back by 8 or so with fingers crossed for a strike in progress across mby.

I rode fresh powder in early April in UP maybe ten years ago after grooming was done for season. Tomorrow would be latest ever for us and to potentially have it local on the still open no-till bean fields would be fantastic.

  4. It takes a lot to bring the UP to a halt, but from what I'm hearing around the area, it's bad.  I estimate 18-19" here since yesterday, and its so dense.  The snow is swallowing up the house.
Standing down my drive, snow is seriously at my freaking chin taking this pic.  I'm gonna have to shovel the windows out before they smash.

At what point do they declare a state of emergency?

  5. See LOT going with the north solutions. Feels the Euro is an outlier...which it is at this point. Hoisted Watches for the far north counties of Illinois.
4-8 in the point and click. Suprised at that amount seeing that we are at best on the fringe.

Looks like a quiet work day staying home from Wisconsin on tap regardless. It was a nightmare drive up there last Wednesday morning. Not doing that again.

  6. Working up in Milwaukee today. Love the trends and thinking a midday precip start will yield a wintry drive home whether that be 43 or 94 south toward the border. After that - will we stay all snow on the northern tier is the beautiful nowcast question.

Quick mention in the LOT AFD on their contemplated inclusion of McHenry in the WSW was a sign things have trended positive. Nice little about face shaping up - fingers crossed the local sled trails are on their way to a half-foot refresher.
