  1. That is seriously as pity as it can get on an ENH day lol welp. on to tomorrow 18z NAM looks pretty exciting
  2. 18z HRRR is once again a snooze fest for pretty much everyone but man does it show that line becoming quite fierce as it pushes through NJ EDIT: Well, a nice little pop up in S Carroll so maybe the HRRR is off its rocker
  3. Also because we typically do not spend more than a day or two dumping our emotions into watching a potential evolve. With winter, it can be almost 2 weeks of waiting and watching lol
  4. no direct calls but I can feel it coming based on our lack of MDs and/or watches lol
  5. well, you are on a weather forum and we don't get many ENH days per year so seems pretty normal to me lol
  6. Scary scenes in OH tonight. Is that the system that is headed this way for tomorrow?
  7. you are spot on. that is exactly where the photo was taken from.
  8. The two taller buildings on the left are office bldgs but the longer and lower white/beige buildings on the right side are the two new luxury appt bldgs.
  9. Yep - its the iconic roof of the Columbia Mall where this photo was taken from the top of a parking garage.
  10. I think it was a combination of that with the lens. Like I said before, could totally see the skepticism though. I am going to try to get in touch with the guy and ask him a few questions. Anyway, overall it was quite the photogenic storm. Hopefully some more fun this weekend and also hoping the plains threat for early week can make it this way.
  11. Found the guys photography page on VSCO - here is another shot he took that looks similar. His panorama is certainly helping it appear more curved than it truly was - but it def had some nice curvature from my POV too. This guy was in Downtown Columbia @ the mall and I was 10 mins S and E so he had a different angle as well.
  12. there was certainly light beind the storm on one side, it got sunny VERY fast after this blew through here. We were on the northern kink of the line too.
  13. I totally see where your coming from, I think the actual sun is on the left side as you can see the lighting on the side of the building is pretty on point looking... But the light on the right side I think is just not as dark clouds as it got VERY dark. I think his panoramic mode on his shot is giving it more of a cylindrical look as well. It was certainly rounded from my POV too and If I could zoom out on my picture you would see what I am talking about. I could be wrong though, wouldnt be the first time
  14. talking about this one? Im not sure that is fake, it looks very similar to the shots that I got just I wasn't able to get the complete horizon in my shot...
  15. Thank you! It certainly could have been worse, just a decent amount of property damage - sounds like everyone in the house that was split in half by a tree ended up okay which is what I was most concerned about. Seeing how quickly the community came together to clean things up was fantastic to see as well - lots of beers being passed around too PS. I even ran into a lurker of our forum while walking around - so random lol
  16. I knew it. Never seen anything like that before. I will remember this storm for a long time.
  17. I am walking the area of Shaker Drive right at the intersection of 29 and 32 and the post above with the helicopter is accurate. Immense amount of very inconsistent tree damage. Including a couple homes that are close to comoletely destroyed by falling trees. I might put a few bucks on there being something more than straight line winds here.
  18. Just a few I could grab quickly. There was a ton of damage like this all around Columbia and SE HoCo.
  19. I just knew it was a storm of that caliber purely by the INSANELY strong smell of freshly cut trees. So fragrant. The size of the trees that were taken down is quite impressive too. When I was driving around I noticed how quickly even the small twigs and leafs one the road would stop. I am thinking there was a microburst or something that kept the damage pretty localized. I will post some photos now.
  20. Tons of damage here in Columbia. Took a ride back to my old neighborhood because I saw the worst of the velocities pass over and found trees into houses and many roads impassable due to several massive trees across the road. Trying to upload some pictures as I was let inside the house before it was officially condemned. This was by far the best storm in fairly recent memory - possibly since the derecho.
  21. hmmmm - thanks for pointing that out. sounds like the NAM may be off its rocker then
