Ok, so Durham is seeing snow but still nothing in Wake County? I swear we can’t buy a damn snowflake here. This snow hole is really beginning to tick me off. I just want some flurries. Is that too much to ask?

Yuck. I love living in Raleigh but this is just damn pathetic on so many levels.

Ugh. I think this is mostly going on in the storm thread but I am so sick of people complaining about our local mets. It’s one person in particular but that’s all she posts. They have a tough job to and they aren’t stupid. They know how much people want snow so if they say we are supposed to get 2 to 4 inches of snow and we only get 1/2 an inch people are going to freak out. I think that their call is reasonable. It sucks but it is what it is. I really love living in Raleigh but seeing Florida get snow and Greenville probably get close to a foot really kind of ticks me off. We just can’t buy an inch of snow. Yes, I’m irritated by it so as bad as this sounds I’m not happy for people getting snow. If RDU wasn’t getting totally screwed every winter then I would feel differently but this is getting really old.

Oh, but we are getting screwed too. You guys will struggle with QPF, but we will struggle with ICE. Nobody down here wants an ice storm, at least any sane person lol. That is why I am being negative. Since moving to the area from Fayetteville 4 years ago I have seen half an inch of snow. That is it. Though I have seen a lot of ice. Last winter was the first measurable snow I had seen and it was a dusting pretty much. Grrrrrrrrr lol.
Oh in that regards then yes, you are getting screwed. I would rather get a cold rain than any ice. I grew up in Fayetteville and remember getting so mad at the kids in Raleigh who got out of school for snow when we got rain. Now that we live in Raleigh though it seems like our kiddos never get days off for snow!

Well, we get screwed here again. Maybe next time eh?
Aren’t you in Wilmington? You guys are suppposed to do really well. What’s with the negativity? RDU is getting screwed in this, not Wilmington.

I’m still shocked that Wilmington, freaking Wilmington, is going to get more snow than Raleigh has over the last 2-3 years combined. We had light snowfall for about 30 minutes a few weeks ago and I have a feeling that’s going to be all we see for the winter. I love living in Raleigh but this just sucks.

You should just go off! You know how it’s gonna turn out already.
I might wait a bit but yea, I’m ready to do just that. I think it’s great that our friends in GA and SC got a great snowfall this year but between that and what appears to be a coastal snowstorm it just sucks for us. Yes, bitter, party of one.

Long time lurker but living in Raleigh is rough when it comes to winter. We seem to never be far enough west and now we’re not far enough east. I’m going to be super selfish here but if the coast gets more snow in one day than we have had in several years I’m going to lose it.

If Carolina plays as poorly as we did against Georgia Tech you guys will beat us handily. That was probably one of the biggest upsets in our history. Completely embarrassing.

BigWeather - right there with you. Pack will always be a mediocre in Bball and Fball. I used to watch every game religiously but rarely watch now. I did happen to catch the game the other day which was the first of the season. Being a fan of the pack is like being of fan of snow in Raleigh, more times then not you will be disappointed.
This bust today was as bad as the Clemson loss.
The bust today was even worse than Carolina's loss to GT...and that's saying something.

I am with you...my kids are going to be crushed in the morning to wake up to rain soaked roads. But, that's the new norm here. Will take them to that singing pig movie and let them stock up on candy/popcorn.
We have had many a busts before, but nothing like this, where it looked to be a solid winter event, snow/sleet, really cold and a driving 33F rain for hours. It's a new low for Raleigh...
This truly has been an epic fail. What makes it even worse is that teachers at our kiddos school have been talking about this all week. They even sent them each a snow packet for homework the kids can do at home on Monday since they knew it would be a snow day. Nice job teachers, way to get your students hopes up only to crush them. He also loves Nerf guns so maybe will just head to target and I will let him buy a couple. That way he could just shoot at the 27 pellets of sleet we have here. Thank goodness our girls are not as obsessed with snow as he is. He told me tonight if we didn't get lots of snow overnight we were going to have to move to either Alaska or Canada. That isn't going to happen so we better get some freaking snow.
-
Yea, I'm totally going to complain now. We are at 32° with a sleet and rain mix in N. Raleigh and it doesn't look like we are going to be changing over to snow anytime soon. Maybe I'm just bitter but nope, I'm not happy for people in the Triad you are going to get a foot of snow. Our son lives and breathes soccer and pretty much sacrifices everything for games, practice and tournaments but tonight at his training my husband said he was a basket case. He kept running over to the window pressing his head against it looking for snow and he saw nothing. He drove his team crazy and his coach crazy but he is just obsessed. If we don't wake up with at least 2 inches of snow for him to sled on tomorrow he will be devastated. I thought that growing up in Fayetteville sucked because Raleigh always got snow but it seems like wake county always gets the screw job ever since he moved here. Sorry if you brought everyone bad luck. Rant over.

It RAIN in northwest SC though and NOT snow. Not snow in Atlanta either.
Ok then, I am happy for posters in those areas who are getting snow and feel really badly for those who aren't.

Atlanta is not really getting snow though. I certainly am not. So frustrating. Every year a storm teases me to get 3+ inches and I end up with mostly rain/ice/sleet with snow on the back edge that just barely covers the yard and that's it. Even during the 2014 Atlanta snowjam, my area was no more than an inch of snow/sleet and ice. I guess this is nature's way of getting back at me for having 3 stellar winters in a row(2009-2011). It's trying to make this entire decade a dud for my area.
Well that stinks. I was hoping everyone in the Atlanta metro was getting some wintry precip.
-
As irritated as I am with this damn cold rain in Wake County I am happy for the posters in Atlanta, NW GA and NW SC. They always seem to get left out of the fun so I'm glad they are finally getting some snow. That being said, posters in the Triad need to stop being so dang greedy with their snow! Heck, I'd be thrilled with a sleet pellet right now!

Y'all suck! Y'all ran Cantore to Norfolk! I told you, the Cantore curse is real!
I'm glad he's gone. Now maybe will have a real shot at getting an inch or two!

By the way, if it's going to sleet I say let it stay sleet. If we can get some higher QPF totals that could equate to a decent event. One of my favorite storms was the 1996 sleet fest and that dropped 6" of sleet in Wake forest.
I've never had that much sleet. I bet it made for a great sledding!

Widre is going to be right. It'll take until the wee hours of the morning for temps to drop below freezing here. At least, the rain will wash all of the brine off the road.
Does he only post when things look bad for the Triangle?

note to self: never doubt the nam when it shows a warm nose.
I'm going to write in my notes section on my phone to never doubt the NAM when it shows a warm nose as well.

Ugh. Our kiddos teachers have been talking about a massive snowstorm this week so of course their hopes are up. Talk about being devastated when we get 2 inches of rain instead.

looking like a sleetfest with monster snow totals up to our nw, just like a few years ago. nam sure looks like it was onto something yesterday.
It sure does. And any remember the last time that NW South Carolina got more snow than Wake County? That's just a tough pill to swallow .
-
I wish that Jim Cantore wasn't here. He is the total kiss of death when it comes to winter weather. We will be stuck with all the sleet and cold rain in Wake County. Can someone drive him over to the Triad please?

The 4km NAM is all sleet and no snow. If these NAM's are correct then I give up...this would be a tough pill to swallow. I do think we taint a good bit but to get no snow with what the other 18 models are showing...
It sure would be. I absolutely love living in Raleigh and wouldn't want to live anywhere else but I am so sick of getting screwed by the stupid winter weather. I hate getting my hopes up even though I know I shouldn't. Of course our kiddos have been talking about snow all week because their classmates have been and they are going to be crushed when we end up with 2 inches of rain. Stupid NW shift.
-
I'm glad that there is a place to come and whine. I'm really getting tired of seeing 4"-6" forecasts for NW Wake County and then ending up with an inch of sleet and rain. Happy for people in GA and SC though. Knowing that the Triad is going to get thumped while we get skunked really is a bummer.

I’m there but we are having the tiniest bit of flurries but our kids are pretty much in paradise so I’m happy. I just looked out the window and it’s over. Oh well.
