30's and cold rain is as miserable as it gets. This was a morale crusher in Raleigh.
You aren’t kidding. Happy for the MA but dang, can’t we for once get a storm that overperforms like the one they are having now? Is that so much to ask?

I'm shocked too. I'm near Fuquay and we had a 2-day total of 1". Nothing this morning!
Honestly if I could give you half of what we have I would! I hate seeing other Wake County residents get nothing...even state fans!!!

How much has compacted/washed away for you North Raleigh/Durham folks? Congrats, and stay safe on the roads once the refreezes start. I think the next two mornings will be the most dangerous part of the storm for you guys, and others.
The rain yesterday didn’t help much. We had 9” but we only had about 4” when it stopped. We got another inch this morning though so that helped some.
-
Just measured again and we picked up another inch so that brings us to 10” total. I seriously am still in shock!

Maybe we'll have to move to Wake county in order to see a good snowfall!
Move RDU for many reasons but snow should definitely not be one of them. Chapel Hill and Durham typically do well but stay away from Wake County. We have been blanked a lot the past few years when everyone around us got a ton. There is a legit Wake County snow hole. This is the most snow I’ve gotten in NW Wake County since 2010. If you live in South Wake it’s even worse. Great place to live overall but for snow lovers it isn’t. I would totally share my snow with S Wake residents if I could!

Snow is winding down here in NW Wake County. Maybe picked up another 1/2”. It’s just nice seeing a fresh coat of snow. Even though we still have a lot left the rain yesterday definitely cut into it.
-
Moderate snow in NW Wake County.

While I love the look of the NAM I just don’t see it happening. I’m not going to be greedy. I’m more than happy with what we got today so I hope the people that got blanked today get it. Everyone needs to get in on the early holiday fun!

Ugh. Power is flickering. I love the beautiful snow but the high winds and sleet storm we are having does not bode well for us.
-
It’s really windy now with pretty heavy sleet. I’m turning up the heat in preparation for when we lose power.
-
Everyone around me in Northwestern Wake County has lost power so I feel like it is only a matter of time for us. Sleet is coming down hard!
-
My husband just remeasured because he said it looked like more than it was at 7:00 a.m. and he was right. We have about 9” in Northwestern Wake County. It’s sleeting now though so I think we’re done. No complaints though!

This storm keeps overperforming. I'm now near 11" and still getting some the heaviest snow for this event (which is saying something).
Anybody else in Wake still getting snow?
You are the place to be! We have a mix that is mostly sleet right now. I have a feeling the snow is gone for good. I just hope the rain isn’t bad enough to wash this away.

Do I dare say we can get to foot...
You are obviously in the sweet spot even though I know we can’t be too far from each other. We are at little over 7” now but we have a sleet and snow mix unfortunately. If you could get a foot with us staying at 7” that would be amazing!!!
-
Back to sleet and snow. Weird.

Just popped in to see what's up. I know the southern 1/2 of NC is losing out to mix/rain but what's gone wrong in the upstate or mountains? They looked in prime spot to get crushed.
The mountains are getting crushed but it seems like the upstate has not gotten as much as forecasted and I don’t think most of Charlotte did as well. I know that it happens and the weather is really hard to forecast but I still hate it. I was happy for my friends in the west and the east last year when we had the Wake County snow hole but it is a crummy feeling so I hate it for them.
-
Bummer! Now we have a mix of some rain but mostly sleet.
-
I have to say, as happy and as pleasantly surprised I am at the amount of snow we have gotten so far I really wish that everyone could have cashed in as well. We have gotten blanked so much the last couple of years and it is such a crappy feeling so I hate it that our friends in the west, upstate and even the coastal plain haven’t gotten as much. If I could share the snow I would!

If you believe the HRRR northern Wake will fight the transition line for the next 4 hours, It looks to even push back southward temporarily before moving back northward. Folks that stay all snow can get a few more inches.
Well I haven’t believed it in the past but I will hug it now. My husband told me that rain should be here in the next hour.
-
Wow, huge flakes falling in Northern Wake County, probably the biggest I have ever seen! Where on earth is Brick?

It's been a good ride. Still snow.
We had a mix but now it’s back to all snow. I know the rain is coming so I told our kids to enjoy it now!

I'd say about 7 inches in north Raleigh just a tiny bit north of 540 near Six Forks. Mostly sleet now. Drove wife to work at 6am in Durham and didn't make it home until almost 9 (albeit I had some fun on a few back roads heading back). Interstate was definitely rough this morning. Lots of accidents and saw one spin out right in front of us. People are maniacs sometimes trying to pass a line of cars at 60mph. In any event, thanks to all of you folks for helping make following weather so much fun. Enjoyed the lead up to this storm and everyone's commentary and input. Hope we get to do this a few more times over the next few months!
You must be really near me! We have 7” off of Norwood Rd. It was a mix of sleet and snow but now it’s back to all snow.

Still snowing up my way but I think the transition is very close. I have around 9". Not too shabby.
I think we live pretty close to you and the transition came through here about 10 minutes ago so you should be seeing it soon.

I’m not going to lie. I am really bitter about the snow the MA forum is getting now. They have complained all winter but yet today is the second overperformer they have had this week. If I hear one more poster in that forum complain about having a crappy winter I’m going to lose my mind. We never have overperformers here.
