Yeah the town is great. You can walk anywhere in town which makes it super easy. Lots of places to eat and grab beers. I like the old hotel in town. Has a great bar.
I'm going to copper in early march and have a place to stay in telluride. Is it crazy to drive from frisco to telluride and then back to denver for 3-4 days of skiing?

Happy to report i saw my first flakes last night at 37f down here in the tropics. 38f now. Hoping this a good omen for the winter to come.

I’m about 80% full here. The oaks just started to turn. The Japanese maple in my backyard which is always the last to go, is almost all green.

What I noticed driving around the Croton res yesterday is the water level is as low as it's been in years. All through this dry stretch it stayed up and now, after getting a bunch of rain, it's pretty low. Have they started the pre-winter water release already? It seems early for that.
They did a scheduled release starting after labor day and lasting about a month. Prior to that, it was full. so much so, that they closed the river to recreational activities. I walked over the dam on sunday and the water gauge was about 3 feet below full.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this release was but in the past few years they've been doing some to clear out invasive species in the river, I think.

Low fog over the bogs and wetlands, bright sunshine and blue skies above. Summers back is clearly broken now.

.2. Headed out of town for a few days to do a lap of the state. Literally. Plattsburgh tomorrow, Syracuse Wednesday and Buffalo Thursday then home to repack Friday and on to Suffolk County on Saturday. Good thing gas isn't still over $5/gal.
I paid $3.69 yesterday. Got almost a tenth of an inch last night.

another half inch overnight. Up to 3.6" for the month.

A good start, but still lots of work to be done. It's worth noting that the drought monitor is valid as of 12z on the 6th, so most of Tuesday's rain (and beyond) wasn't factored-in.
Ahhh, that makes sense. Thank you.

Driving around last evening between my house and my mothers in New Windsor it is quite evident much more rain is needed. Ponds are still low, streams hardly flowing. It'll take time, at least the grass is greening up again.
yeah, I just looked at the latest drought monitor and was surprised that there wasnt more improvement from the most recent rains.
