All of you winter weenies are so triggered by anyone that says the word warm. Well, guess what. Dec. is going to come in warm. Warm, warm and warm. Sweating in your sweaters all you winter weenies? Going to ban someone else that says the word warm a lot?
Solidary for hardypalmguy and anyone else that says the word warm.
The palm here is doing just fine. Getting so big it is larger than my biggest black background. Going to have to get creative to keep it isolated from now on. Palms in the midwest for the win. Warm, Warm and lets hope for more warm.

Mild 26 this morning with some flurries. Hi-res models paint as much as 4-6" in a narrow area of the high terrain from Herman right through my back yard late tonight/tomorrow. In an average winter by this point that would almost be a yawn but I'm excited.
I'll yawn for you. lol

When I moved up here from Atlanta, my neighbor gifted me a snowblower. I now realize he was just trying to offload his.
.Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it. Candy heart Grandfather wisdom.

I take it this is an oil drilling platform in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

Whether you use met or astronomical winter timeframe, grading winter in the fourth week of December seems extremely premature to me.

Wow that’s epic! It’s funny. I’m in my first winter in the Midwest after 13 years in the south and it’s been a piece of cake!
.Seeing how we are only almost three days into winter, I would hold off on grading the whole winter at this point. Still have January and February to go yet.

Some impressive fog here this morning. KIND was reporting 0.06 mile visibility between 8 and 8:30. And from the traffic cams the fog looked 100% worse here in my county.

^ Elevation is everything. Illinois is rather short on 11,000 foot peaks.

0.69" of the liquid variety overnight and this morning as the majority rotates east of me. Now to see what the backside drifts down to us.

Record high of 53 today in Negaunee, breaking the old record of 50 set back in 1998. Snow mostly gone here at my place. Weird.

It's great that ATHF is back in the air.
I know I will regret this, but what is ATHF?

The scariest part of that chart is that it looks like Marquette didn’t exist in 2014 at Christmas.
That or loggers cut down all the pines that year before the flurries fell.

11-5 and it as one of those evenings, so I am going to over-share
When I got out to the overpass there was a small patch of alto-cumulus floating under the cirrus deck. Taken with the 24-70mm at 31mm...
Faint sundogs and halo. Taken with the 24-70mm at 33mm...
Real close to sunset and a study of various white and yellow layers of clouds. Taken with the 24-70mm at 61mm...
Looking southeast at the approaching color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 28mm...
Looking south at the max color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 61mm...
Last dregs of color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...
Cheers!
