Reports indicate a substantial number of downed trees in Mantua and Harrison townships. The residents there did not have much indication of this approaching, as it occurred behind the main line of storms. A warning was only issued as the damaging winds were in progress. TPHL had a good view of the downbursts at 8:58 PM.

A likely severe storm was over West Philadelphia ahead of the line. TPHL 7:57 PM:

Some decent winds, and possibly hail with the mid-level circulation between Mertztown and Alburtis, moving to the Southeast.

According to the Mount Holly PNS, members of the public reported 6.29 inches of rain in town and 6.41 inches just to the south in adjacent Woolwich township from the series of thunderstorms during August 27th. Those numbers were easily the most from the day on the list, which is not a common occurrence here. Most of that rain fell during a 3-hour timeframe between 12 and 3 PM. The first thunderstorm, which took on some supercell characteristics, produced wind damage with trees and wires reported down near Oldmans Creek on Kings Highway close to the Gloucester/Salem county border. The road access was blocked when going down there to look things over. Additionally, somebody in town saved a hailstone from the first storm as it passed overhead, knowing that I am interested in severe weather. It is just under dime-size in diameter.

Should be a Marine Warning for the Bay west of Cumberland county for a possible waterspout. KDIX 6:36 PM:

The outflow boundary will continue to alter the main storm's appearance and cause additional storms to form later on along its flank. Thunderstorms forming back near Wilmington will move along the same path and could lead to flash flooding along the Route 130/Delaware River corridor.

Dangerous storm over Richwood, Pitman, Glassboro. Damaging winds and a circulation are both present.

The storm's core has shifted a few times, though it appears the strongest winds were on the south side of Mullica Hill and moving into Pitman as well as adjacent townships.

The storm over Wilmington was about to move towards Philadelphia, but it has taken a right turn and will now move through Gloucester county. Certainly some spin indicated down near Auburn and Woodstown in Salem county.

The best radar signatures for a tornado in our CWA would have been the QLCS moving through Barclay, Queen Anne's county in Maryland into Hartly of Kent county in Delaware. Then, the QLCS merged with a storm in front of it that produced a sudden, intense wind signature from Wyoming into Dover, which apparently became a tornado right over the city according to NWS reporting of a TDS.

Outflow has weakened the northern line segment, and strengthened the storms on the Eastern Shore into Central Delaware, however isolated strong winds are still possible east of Wilmington.

An early line approaches from the west, some strong winds are possible due to the environment out ahead of it.

The line of thunderstorms is bowing forward moving into the area. Some circulations are appearing as well, including near Avondale/Kennett Square. This activity is moving northeast and will enter Delaware and Montgomery counties before reaching Philadelphia. TPHL 6:33 PM:

TPHL over Cheltenham/Fox Chase at 3:11 PM. Damaging winds possible.

Quarryville PA storm spinning aloft, will move toward Atglen in Chester county.

This was TPHL in West Philadelphia at 2:48 PM, then at 3:12 PM in National Park.

This is both TPHL and KDIX viewing the torrential thunderstorm at 4:36 PM near Cross Keys.

Winds decent here for the past several minutes, now pretty strong winds signature (and some spin) entering East Greenwich.

Some isolated strong winds along the line from Marcus Hook to Woodstown. Frequent lightning occurring as well as this will move into South Philadelphia and Camden.

The number of sea, bay and outflow boundaries has made following storm movements and warnings quite challenging the past few days. Presently, it appears a line is finally beginning to move into the area from Lancaster county.

The strongest winds appeared to occur along the many outflow boundaries put out by the storms this evening. Unfortunately, these boundaries also caused weakening of convection and less rainfall for some. The highest number of damage reports were in the western zones where the storms arrived with some daylight remaining. Currently, the strongest winds are near Pemberton in Burlington county.

An area of potentially damaging winds is moving in. Another area is moving along I-95 towards New Castle county.

TEWR from 7:37 PM. Damaging winds were moving through Morristown and most of the county, on the leading edge of, or even in front of the line itself. A separate thunderstorm downburst was moving along the Essex/Passaic county line and into southern Bergen/northern Hudson counties. At the time of this radar image, warnings were still 10 to 16 minutes away from issuance for the 4 eastern counties.
