  1. Truly sad at the number of deaths.  The ones found in cars were preventable as there was a driving ban issued.  There still is.   To me, I am sorry for a place known for snow they should have known better.  Linking an article with the nationwide numbers of lives lost over 12 states.

Southwest is an absolute disaster.  Heads should roll for this one.  Feel bad for stranded people.  Reading they didn't have planes and or crews staged to weather this storm.

  2. House temp is at 76.  Outside 66.  Opened a few windows for a bit.  Broke a sweat!  Moon looks great.  I’ll probably miss the eclipse.  What a nice stretch of weather with baseball!   Nice while it lasted.   Headed to FL for Thanksgiving hoping I don’t have to deal with weather- Fort Lauderdale.  Late storm with no big surprises in store for them this week.  Had a colorful fall this year.

  3. Devastating.  I wanna know how you move 50 ton boats off land?   Cranes I suppose? But then where do they go? Do they make trucks big enough to haul them?  Is there also boat salvage/graveyards?

At work today I did get a work order for a JC Penney’s store in Fort Myers requesting an electrician to turn off the main switch gear. I was able to get in touch with someone to get it done.  I thought it would be days.   Floridians are good folks.  I could never live there though. It’s too humid and I love my four seasons here in SE PA.

Best wishes going out to all here that are effected.

  4. There will be fatalities on Sanibel.  Especially if the causeway failed early there was no way for anyone to get out or to survive that surge.  I heard the water was up to roofs. Watched the Gov. presser and he said he knows of 2 deaths but didn't say where.  He tried to walk back what Lee county sheriff said, but Gov said the first responders went out before they were suppose to, so that statement was a bit telling.  It's going to be a very long and sad day,  I fear.

  6. Was down to the bay cottage yesterday-lots of damage on the way down.  Chesapeake City got rocked.  Lots of trees down on the power lines.  Corn blown over.  They were still working last night.  At the cottage there was some tree damage, lots of chairs and stuff blown over.  Thankfully my cousin was there as she said my front door blew open.  I'll make sure to dead bolt it from now on.

Hard to believe all that happened there compared to our 60 drops.

  7. This is why I prefer the fall to spring. Fall you anticipate colder weather with a hot day thrown in.  Spring in the evil step child teasing you with warm.

I do recall having to re plant tomatoes once in May after a frost killed about 8 or 10 plants.  My Easter flowers I planted on Saturday were dead by Monday am.

  8. I've always been more of a snow fan.   A snowstorm is not as damaging as an ice storm, tornados, hurricanes, tropical storms, and flooding events.  You hunker down during the storm, then go out when it's over,  move it out of the way and get on with life.

I do read the tropical section when there is a threat of a US landfall.

Right after my husband passed we had Ida and I had to refill and start a generator for 2 days after my son set it up.  Not fun.  Hoping I don't have to do that again.
