Mood flakes just started in Kokomo. The parked car hardly has more than dust in the crevices.

While not as nerve racking as usual...Yet.... for the Kitchen Sink zone in N Central IN, some of the 12Z model soundings are enough to keep the foot shaking. If rates can stay heavy early Wed. should be ok but the yellow brick road doesn't lead to these parts lol. Regardless this things gonna be a cement truck laying sidewalk as it comes through. KIND is saying 5-9" for here and KIWX is calling 7-12" 2 miles away.
I'll call 6 and my back ain't shoveling any of it
I'll meet you in the banter thread on Thursday when we can talk about the ways we got screwed on this one too. Warm air, dry slot, miss south, miss north...

NWS has 9.8" in the hour by hour for Kokomo. I'll take the under.

You should've been on here for GHD. To this day it is still my favorite event to track on here, even though the outcome at my then-location was not what I was looking for. The level of excitement and enthusiasm was fun.
That was such a heartbreaker for us. It looked historic and then poof - pingers.

Random fact of the day. Chicago and Indianapolis are almost tied in snowfall to date.
ORD: 4.7"
IND: 4.4"
That 4.4" for Indy must be some generous slant sticking.

So... as we will be getting to the halfway point of met winter pretty soon, how would you grade winter so far?
I'd go D+. May seem a little generous, but that period leading into Christmas is what raises the grade for me. If that had been timed differently, I'd be going D-.
I couldn't go F in any circumstance because of that really cold spell that we had. Staying below zero all day is not super rare around here, but doing it in December is pretty rare and that wins some points from me.
It's a F for me. It's obvious the snow situation has been a complete bust and the cold was meh. It was not as cold or had staying power as advertised. The GFS has no phantom storms to even give any false hope. If there is anything good I can find, it would be the west coast getting some drought relief.

I'm not even sure what to rant about at this time. The whole idea of winter anymore seems foreign these days after several years of miserable performance.

I had a friend who asked if I could drive her into town today. I obliged. The wind and temperature were wicked. We saw a lot of mini drifting and some whiteout conditions. I explained everyone dodged a huge bullet low snow totals. Of course she sensed my disappointment with this storm but was thankful it didn't materialized.

I had low expectations for snow totals but it has managed to even miss that. I’m just tired of it all. Life is hard and the weather disappointments just add to it.
I hope we torch next weekend.

Mixed rain/snow has made it to Kokomo.

Awaiting for the storm to begin all while dealing with a failed air conditioner for a data center.

18z NAM not really doing any favors.
Brutal for my snow hopes and dreams.

I've got family wanting to know if they should make the drive from Nashville to Chicagoland Friday; my initial reaction was no but if we're set to get like 3" in the city, doesn't strike me as the kind of crippling blizzard set-up that was being advertised (both in terms of amounts, obviously, but also shifting the focus of winds east towards MI). This is a mess
Interstate 65 north of Indy is frequently a mess without snowy (or near blizzard) conditions. I'd avoid Friday travel.

The duration of winds well past the Christmas weekend is pretty amazing besides the snow. I am riding the current eastern edge and hope for a shift back east before this begins. The NW trend is not my friend.

If it's any consolation if the Christmas week storm ends up on the east coast, could see a decent lake effect chance on the Chicago side of the lake?
It's not for me.

currently riding the 12z gem
Some Ohio peeps would be so overjoyed if that was even half true. I can also support this solution.

Mid to upper 40s, wall to wall clouds, throw in some rain. That’s my next 9 days. Not a single day with sunshine.
Well on our way to another clunker December. The trend is your friend.
Yep. It's pretty dull for the foreseeable future. I cannot remember when I had a good winter.
